Lynn Alexander writes:

I am seeking actual proof of Allin Breed and his family coming to America. It is purported they came with the Winthrop fleet on the Arabella landing here in 1630. But, his name is not on the passenger list. Breed Family histories give this information, but there is no proof. Can you offer any help?

He was established in Saugus (later Lynn) Mass. by 1638. I would like to know how he got there.

Erica, when did Lynn try to start the discussion? I noticed she's a new user; we currently have a 24-hour probation period before a new user can start a public discussion, in an effort to curtail spam.

Our correspondence was 7 Dec 2015. Then on 10 Dec 2015 she wrote:

"I tried to start a discussion but was not able because I was asked for a security code and I have no idea what it is. Please advise. Thanks."

I believe this is fixed now.

Thank you, Mike. I'll keep an eye out to verify.

Has anyone had any useful updates to this discussion? We were searching for an answer to the same question. We contacted the Winthrop Society and they told us with assurance that Allen Bread arrived in 1638, but did not give us a source. He does not seem to appear on any passenger list in 1637 or in 1638, but does receive 200 acres of land in 1638. This suggests a head right for transportation of himself, his wife, and his two sons. Thanks!

The records show that Allen was still in Pulloxhill, Bedfordshire, England, in May 1636, and was in Lynn, Essex Co., MA by 1638. So he immigrated between late 1636 and 1638. See the overview.
