The records I have found indicate that Anthony Savage lost his mother at birth. He left England at the age of two, by himself! I find this hard to comprehend. He survived the "Starving time", and lived until the age of 90years in Virginia. Also he was Captain of the Virginia Militia. Anyone else have more details?

I seriously doubt that there are any legitimate "records" that document Anthony Savage having "lost his mother at birth" or leaving England "at age two by himself." The so-called Starving Time (in Jamestown) was well before his lifespan; there is no documentation that he was ever in Jamestown. The very questionable age of 90 at death is based upon an erroneous date of birth which is widely disseminated on the internet. He was most likely born about 1620, making him about age 75 when his will was probated in Richmond County, Virginia in 1695 with his son-in-law Francis Thornton 1st as executor (only the record of probate is extant - the will itself is missing). I have done extensive research on him and the Thorntons with a rather detailed examination of his life. If you would like further details, please feel free to contact me.
