It translates as Azan Tukta, son of Kermek Dulo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toktu_of_Bulgaria

As far as Krum is concerned, John Van Antwerp Fine in The Early Medieval Balkans: A Critical Survey from the Sixth to the Late Twelfth Century (1991) writes on page 94 that
"Krum, one of Bulgaria’s greatest warrior rulers, came to the Bulgarian throne in about 803. He was originally a Bulgarian chieftain from Pannonia. Nothing is known about his activities there nor about his acquisition of the Bulgarian throne.
It is tempting to associate him with the old royal house, and make him a descendant of Kovrat’s son who migrated to Pannonia in the 660s. If that son were Kuver, possibly he left sons behind him when he migrated south to Macedonia; then Krum might have been a descendant of Kuver. This is idle speculation. But it is likely that the warfare in Pannonia between the Avars and Franks caused various defeated Avars and their clients (who could well have included some Bulgars) to become dislocated and move east as a compact unit. We have discussed the instability existing in the Bulgarian state, where a struggle for the throne had been going on for decades. Possibly these immigrants appeared at a moment of crisis and took over."

Krum's ancestors are unknown and any claims to their identities are just "idle speculation."

Private User Any objections to cutting Krum, khan of Bulgaria from Toktu, khan of Bulgaria? We do not build trees based on "idle speculation" here on Geni. :-)

Крум Страшни translates to "Krum, the Terrible" just running it through google translator.

I don't know how much info in this book is useful....I can't translate...it talks about Theodosius Monomachos . I added the book as a source for him. Page 651...

Is there a profile for a Michaelum Stratioticum on geni…..is he referred to as something else?

Good job Tamás Flinn Caldwell-Gilbert To all: There are so many of these MP*s without any information, when you see one - check out if there can be found trustworthy information and add it. It helps a lot. We cannot all do everything, but we can all do something. Also there are historical persons still without being connected but that is another story.

What I should have said was....Is that the Niketas they are talking about?

Diana Collins Medlands lists six siblings in the family of Michael IV, but let us try to keep this discussion focused on one family at a time. :) This might be best served in a separate discussion.

Diana Collins Good find Diana, I noticed that last year and some others in some "other" case we were pondering here :), it is so important to list all siblings. You can start discussion about it (There was just one connection found in Scandinavia that bounded two important medieval lines together)
