Rethel is absolutely not in Italy.

They're alternatives posed by a merge. There's an Italian burial place too. Was hoping the new manager would elucidate.

says he died and was buried in 'Nevi, Italy'. but that place is hard to identify. There is such a place in Umbria that doesn't seem very convincing and The first church of 'la Madonna dei Nevi' was built in Siena only in the 15th century. It seems that the place of burial could have been wrong. (it is on Geni since 2008)

Hughes could have been buried in the Benedictine monastery of Novy or Novey in Aquitania, a monastery that he helped founding, but we need more sources.

MedLands says:

"Registensium comes Hugo" donated property to "ecclesie…Marie de Noveyo" by charter dated 1117[336]. The necrology of Reims Saint-Rémi records the death "V Kal Jan" of "Hugo comes Regiteste"[337].

So, complete absence of proof for Nevi Italy, burial - as far as we can see?

I think so, yes.

I'll remove it.

Thanks Sharon!
