- Warrior was born in 1959 as James Brian Hellwig,[4] in Crawfordsville, Indiana, about 50 miles northwest of Indianapolis. He was the oldest of five children and was raised by his mother (along with, later, his stepfather) after his father left his family when he was 12. His father died at 57 and a grandfather died at 52.[5]
- Warrior married Shari Lynn Tyree on October 2, 1982.[citation needed] They remained together for the majority of Warrior's WWF career before divorcing on March 22, 1991, two days before WrestleMania VII.[70]
- Warrior married for the second time to Dana Viale on January 31, 1999. The couple had two daughters together.[6]
