Hi zombie hunters, I'm not sure what the core issue is that fueled this conversation. Is it about people long dead marked as living? And how do we come to the conclusion that they are dead? I have many people in my research who were born less than 100 years ago but until I find proof they are dead I don't feel comfortable assuming they are. What are we trying to accomplish?

Thanks, Jim

The settings allow us to select that we will not allow others to view or change our living profiles which is a common choice. If an individual born in the 1400 is not marked as deceased, it blocks any merges creating black holes in the trees. The goal is not to change the last few generations that have potential to be alive nor to interfere with one's privacy. The goal is to open up the channels to merge the obviously dead individuals.

Hi James there is a good explanation here..

I have been marking Zombies dead as I come across them. It's odd to see them on the trees.

Catherine of Valois, Queen consort of England
Catalina de Valois
I can't resolve conflicts with her parents because there are zombies

Isabella de Valois, of France, Queen consort of England
Isabel de Valois
I can't resolve conflicts with her parents because there are many zombies

Shalom Private,
regarding these two managers, Larry closed his account dumping many thousands of profiles on unsuspecting Bernard, who has since been swamped by merge requests.

Presently I am Bernard's ONLY collaborator. I can probably handle zombies too, because I'm in Larry's Family Group, so feel free to send merge or zombie requests to me.

If it's my files, you'll have to tell me how to fix it

The easiest way to look for zombies is to go under relatives and search your ancestors that are living. Rather than just fixing them, it is better to post them for Noah to run the script on so the other family members are fixed too. I tend to do them in waves so he doesn't get bombarded by a ton of names where the script would overlap

And Noah is??

post them here for Noah Tutak

Everything through page 25 is done.

@noah -
Neither of my entries on page 21 were cleared up. Should I repost them? Or is there some other problem?

Dunb question.. Instead of getting names and "killing zombies" all the time. Why doesn't the program automaticly kill anyone that's over 120 years old?
To the best of my knowledge there's no one that's that old on record., and you could kill thousands of "zombies" in one night. Any "zombies" left over after that would be in family tree's that would not bother anyone but a blood relative.
It can't be that hard for the program to check a persons bith date and "kill" some over 120.

Marvin :
i think they are working on something like that.
there might be a problem tho, since to many people have "fake" profiles fare out in the old days.
no idea why, most likely to use them when mergeing tree lines back then.

f.eks
there is 1 manager named it self for Cleopatra.
and if you then take 120 year from that one and back,we all are in a big pile of something.

Marvin, if there is no birthdate it is hard to know how old the profile is.

I put in a user input to see what the Techs say/
if there is no bithday, but say his grandson is 200 years old then I would think he's dead.
What does someone naming themself Cleopatra have to do with the rest of us. Even if he was merged into the real Cleopatra it would not affect birthdates
