1 April 1531: Instrument narrating that the procurator for Jonet Corry, relict of the late (Alexander Kennedy) of Girvanemanis, and noe spouse of Thomas Kennedy (of Knockreach), solemnly protested (apparently before the sheriff of Ayr or his depute in reference to a decreet effecting the lands) that whatever was done or to be done before the sheriff this day or any other should not pejudice the said Jonet as to her conjunct infeftment of the lands of Girvanemanis, or any other lands of the late Alexander, her spouse. 1 April 1531: Instrument narrating that Alexander Kennedy, in name of and on behalf of John Kennedy, son and heir of Hugh Kennedy of Girvanemanis, apparent, protested that whatever was done before the said Charles Campble, sheriff foresaid, in the apprising of the lands of Hugh Kennedy (as above) should not injure John K. concerning the lands of Girvanemanis.
