Memories
I too remember my Grandmother, Greta Gibb telling us the story of her heroic brother saving her life. I'm so grateful to Bernard in so many ways.....Thank you Uncle Bernie xxxxxx Public - Merrilyn - Other Relative - 25 April 2015
Bernie, you are still remembered and your bravery honoured to this day nearly 98 years on, since you were taken so suddenly from your family & so far away in Belgium, from your home in North Canterbury. We remember you this Anzac Day - your nieces & nephews, great nieces & great nephews & now our children. We'll all have our own memories or tales from our parents & grandparents - I personally remember the story of you leaping a fence and rolling my Grandmother, little sister Greta in your coat, saving her life, as she played with matches & caught her long hair on fire. That one catches me with a lump in my throat & a tear in my eye. We salute you, dear Bernie & we will NEVER FORGET xxx Public - Andrea Jayne - Other Relative - 22 April 2015
