Ihre Seele sei eingebunden in das Bündel des Lebens. Amen Sela Seitenanfang Kommentar Datierung Gestorben Mittwoch, 03.04.1560 Ho gibt als Sterbedatum den 7. Nissan 304 an, der 31.3.1544. Ettlinger korrigiert von 304 zu 314 und verzeichnet Blum unter dem Datum 9.III.1554, bemerkt aber nicht, dass (trotz seiner gegenteiligen Anmerkung) weder für 304 noch für 314 Wochen- und Monatstage übereinstimmen. Wir schlagen die oben wiedergegebene Lesung ‎‏ש״ך‏‎/320 statt ‎‏ש״ד‏‎/304 vor, dann stimmen die Daten überein: Mittwoch, 7. Nissan 320 = 3.4.1560. Unter dem (9.?).III.1554 gibt Ettlinger für Blum T. Josef anstelle des Vatersnamens Josef bzw Josel (ET um 1536) den Namen ihres Bruders Gottschalk zum schwarzen Ring an (ET um 1572). Entsprechend ist Blum bei Jossel auch nicht als Tochter aufgeführt. Blume “=9 III 1554” HO 182 is Gottschalk’s sister, not his daughter. Her death date in Ele Toldot is wrong, and has been corrected in Epidat ffb-672 to 3 April 1560 http://www.steinheim-institut.de/cgi-bin/epidat?id=ffb-672,

Ettlinger was looking at her Horovitz entry and struggling (with good reason) over the inconsistencies of the death date. You will notice that he has two footnotes about it, to explain why he chose the approximate date he selected. But you can see that he is still not happy about it. And, sure enough, in Epidat, they clarify the whole thing. No wonder he was having trouble! But because Ettlinger was so caught up in that problem, he completely overlooked that he had accidently put “Gottschalk” as her father, even though he knew from Horovitz that it was Joseph. Then, when he went to create Gottschalk’s sheet, he put her in as a child, still not catching his error.

No further confirmation is needed, now that we have Blume’s gravestone, but there is a nice item of proof in Kasper-Holtkotte, page 38, footnote 9, where she states that “the business partners, Gottschalk and Moses z schwarzen Ring were brothers of Blume (wife of Simon von Boppart z. Kessel).” And if we needed more proof, Andernacht2 #431, dated 1537, shows that she already has at least one married child, which would indicate someone of Gottschalk’s generation, not a later one.

This was also caught by the people at the Steinheim Institut, and they spell it out on her Epidat page under “Kommentar”. So, fortunately for us, this is not one of those cases where there is a difference of opinion. It is just a regular, straightforward mistake,
