biography
'Captain' Anthony Savage (d 1695) came from a lineage centered at Elmley Castle in Gloucester County, England .He was first recorded in Virginia living in Gloucester County in 1660 where he was a Commissioner and Sheriff. In 1670, he bought land on the north side of the Rappahannock River. The Savage family traces back to Savages who came to England from Normandy with the army of William the Conqueror in 1066 and settled in Derbyshire.

This Virginia man was probably the Anthony Savege who married Sarah Constable in 1646 in Greater London. In his marriage licence, he states he is age 25 (b. c1620/1). The line fails there. Modern indexes to English parish registers (Ancestry, FamilySearch, findmypast) reveal there were several people in England at this time named Anthony Savage. There is lack of proof that the Londoner and Virginian was Anthony Savage (bp. 1623 at Broadway, Worcestershire, son of Ralph Savage) who is of royal descent.

- GEDCOM Note misstatement of her age in the allegations. Francis Constable signed the instrument himself. She probably died before going to Virginia, but her husband went and bought 50 acres of land form Col. Richard Lee [Va. Patents 2:153]. She and her husband were among those who presented the will of her mother for probate 22nd September 1647.
