About David Neanion Gibb
GIBB V. GIBB. In this case David Neenan [Neanion] Gibbs, mining contractor, Karangahake, sought for divorce on the grounds of drunkenness and adultery from his wife, Mary Ann Gibb. Mr. C. J. Parr appeared for the petitioner, but respondent was not represented. Evidence was given by the petitioner, Mr Banks (clerk of the Magistrate's Court at Auckland), and detective Kennedy, and His Honor granted a decree nisi, decree to become absolute at the end of three months. DEATH. GIBB. On December 16th at the Waihi Hospital, David Neeman, the dearly beloved husband of Annie Gibb, of Karangahake, aged 45 years. Source: Waihi Daily Telegraph (16 December 1908, p. 2).
Yet another of Karangahake's old residents passed away at the Waihi hospital the other day, in the person of Mr David Gibb. The deceased was for a number of years shift boss at the Crown mine, but owing to failing health had to give up his employment some months ago. Since then he has been an inmate of both Thomas and Wahi hospitals until his death as stated placed him beyond the pale of suffering. Much sympathy is extended to his bereaved widow and family. KARANGAHAKE NOTES. [From Our Own Correspondent.] I regret to record the death of one of Karangahake's oldest and most esteemed residents in the person of Mr David Gibb, who died at the Waihi Hospital last Tuesday. The deceased had been suffering for some considerable time and was an inmate of the Thames Hospital for a few months. After leaving that institution he came home, but his health went back on him again, and he decided to go under treatment at the Waihi Hospital. His complaint was thought so serious that the only hope was to put him under an operation, which was successful, but after a week he again took ill, and although everything possible had been done for him, he passed away on Tuesday evening. Mr-Gibb was for a number of years shift boss in the Crown mine, and was very popular with all who came in contact with him. Much sympathy is extended to the bereaved wife and family.
