About Godbert Godbertson
CUTHBERTSON, CUTHBERT, Plymouth, came in the Ann, 1623, and in the div. of lds. next season, was count. for six heads, if the rec. be right, yet at div. of cattle, 1627, he, and w. Sarah, wh. I presume, had been wid. of Digory Priest (that d. at Plymouth 1 Jan. 1621), and m. 21 Nov. foll. at Leyden, and s. Samuel are all; but we may suppose, that some ds. had been m. in the interval, and at this div. are count. by other names. Sarah, his d. m. 1630, John Coombs, it is said, and ano. m. Phineas Pratt. He was a Dutchman, unit. with the fathers at Leyden, and Winslow gives his name, as, perhaps, in earlier life, the man wrote it, Godbert Godbertson. He d. bef. 23 Oct. 1633, the date of inv. of vol. 1, p. 493 both hims. and w. so that she was prob. d. a short time bef. By descend. the last syllable of the surname is now reject. Davis, in Morton, 379. SAMUEL, Plymouth 1643, s. of the preced. was one of the orig. purch. of Dartmouth in 1652, and most prob. had fam. beyond my knowl.
