Mr. Henry Lewis, to whose death, at the age of 94 years, reference was made in last evening's issue, had the ups and downs of pioneer life during his 60 years' residence in New Zealand. He was, at times, trading, gold mining, in the timber business, flax milling, hotelkeeping, and farming. Throughout his long life, Mr. Lewis was of a benevolent disposition, and his timely assistance benefited many people. Deceased leaves a family of nine to mourn their loss —Mrs. Storey, Woodstock, Te Awamutu; Mrs. Hyams and Miss Lewis, 41, Park Road; Mrs. Sinclaire, England; Mr. B. Lewis, Wellington; Mr. D.
