(From Norma Kirchhoffer) On Sept. 12, 1738, for the sum of 10 shillings, James Warren was awarded a patent on 100 acres of land in Goochland County on the north side of Rivanna River, crossing the river up by a creek and adjoining the Hanover Co. line.
This land lay in present day Argemarle County somewhere north of Charlottesville.Charles Caffry lived on 300, nearby acres which lay on both sides of Moors Creek, a branch of the Rivanna River.
Diary of Reverend Robert Rose, 1746-1751:
"In about 1735 James Warren and perhaps soon after, his brother John Warren, settled on the north side of Buffalo Ridge in present Amherst Co., where copper ore was discovered.In 1747-48 the Warrens had a temporary quarter 'Warren Cabin' there.Of them it was written, 'The Warren family pictured royalties on their copper hodings for a thousand years.'Eleanor Warren, daughter of james Warren married October 26, 1747, to John Rucker, with Parson Rose officiant.

James WARREN, Sr., born about 1690 - 1700 in St. Anne’s Parish or Charles City, Essex Co. or Albemarle Co., Virginia, son of John Warren and Elizabeth?.
Died in his late 70’s on 3 July 1769 in Amherst Co. Virginia. Will Book Dates Will Executed in February 1769 in Amherst Co. VA.
In cir. 1712-17, he married Elizabeth (Lewis), b. cir. 1690-1700 in Amherst Co. VA. d: abt. 21 February 1749/50 in Amherst Co., VA. Wife Elizabeth is not mentioned in his Will, which confirms she must have departed this life before his death.
