Samuel born 1786 Cannot be the son of Jesse Potten Bailey born 1782
Fanny married John Bailey, born 1818 in Bilsington, Kent, England. He was the son of smuggler/convict Samuel Bailey and Sarah Pantry. It is quite clearly written on their Victorian marriage certificate. Unfortunately as there were quite a few John Bailey's living around Hobart at this time many family researchers have gotten them confused... Samuel Bailey and his uncle John Bailey who were both transported to Tasmania. Both of them were already married back in Kent. They applied for permission to have their wives and families come out and join them. Samuel's wife, Sarah, died in 1827 but his two children, John and Elizabeth came out to Tasmania. These families lived mainly around the Oatlands area. Source: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=392159.9
Possible child: Samuel Pantry Bailey (born 1866 Oatlands?)
