- SIR ROBERT, the eldest surviving son, succeeded his father before the end of 1410.{Frasers of Philorth, i. 81.] In two charters of the year 1407, Robert de Keth, son of William the Marischal, appears as a substitute after John Stewart, Lord of Buchan, and his two brothers Andrew and Robert.{Robertson’s Index, 163. Reg. Mag. Sig., i. No. 893.] In 1375 he had a charter of confirmation from Robert Il. of the forest of Cowie, the forest of the Mounth, and other lands.{Ibid., No. 499.]...
- He married the heiress of Troup, whose name has not been ascertained, with whom he got that barony.{Douglas’s Peerage.] He is also, but on doubtful authority, said to have married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir David Lindsay, first Earl of Crawford.{Cf. vol. iii. 17.]

- 1. SIR WILLIAM, who succeeded.
- 2. John, who, on 2 June 1413, got from his father a charter of the barony of Troup,{Reg Mag Sig., i. No. 939.] which comprised the lands of Northfield. His descendants in the male line, known as the Keiths of Northfield, became extinct on the death s.p. of James Keith of Northfield in 1799 {See Scottish Notes and Queries, 1st ser., vii. 177, and Table of Descents, opp. 185.]
- 3. Alexander, mentioned in his brother's charter of Troup, 2 June 1413.{Reg Mag Sig., 20 July 1413.]
- 4. Margaret, married to Hugh Arbuthnott of Arbuthnott. She died in 1419.{Cf. vol. i. 279.]
- 5. Elizabeth, married to Alexander Irvine of Drum. She died in 1400 {Antiq. of Aberdeen, i. 207.]
- 6. Christian, married to Thomas Monypenny.{Robertson’s Index, 141, 60.]
- 7. Marion, described as daughter of Sir Robert Keith, Knight, of St. Andrews diocese, in a commission for a dispensation of her marriage with Alexander de Fraser, of Moray diocese, dated 26 April 1411 {Regesta Avenionensia, lib. 344, f. 742.] This was probably Alexander Fraser of Kinnell and Lovat.
