I wonder if a little Project could be started for "Notables" of Welsh background.
When I'm going through my tree, I stumble across interesting and well done profiles - or ones that need building out. And it would be great if I could just "add them to a Project" as I go along.
For instance -
Sir Thomas Chaloner of Guisborough (The Elder) is your 12th great grandmother's husband.
Sir Thomas Chaloner, the Elder, Kt., MP
I found quite a few in working on the Meyrick/Myrick/Merrick family.
My 11th ggf Meurig ap Llewelyn
My 14th ggf Einion Sais ap Dafydd, of Bodorgan
And my 20th ggf - Lord Cydivin, Montgomery Wagles
Also in the Meyrick/Myrick/Merrick line. Interestingly of course Merrick comes from Meuric ("guardian") the name of my 11th ggf.
Robert and Jane (Vaughan) Owen were taken to a Quaker Colony named Merion in Pennsylvania. They left their home in Marionethshire, Wales due to religious persecution by the English King. The trip was arranged by their son, Dr Griffith Owen who was a friend of William Penn, and was granted land for a British Colony. Robert and Jane Owen are my 7th gg-parents.
