In case anyone was wondering why the SA Curators on Geni are all suddenly wearing hats; it's to highlight our dilemma over what pic of our common Koisan / 'Hottentot' granny Krotoa/Eva to use on her profile.
Krotoa 'Eva' of the Goringhaicona
Daan Botes has objected to the original 'kopdoek' (headscarf) photo Private User and I had used from the first book on her, by Trudie Bloem: http://books.google.co.za/books/about/Krotoa_Eva.html?id=mz5aAAAAMA...
So we looked at others, which seemed either less than decorous (given the prominent display of breasts) or equally stereotypical:

Then we settled on the image from Dalene Matthee's book: http://www.amazon.com/Pieternella-van-die-Kaap-Historiese/dp/062403....
But cuzzin Daan described this as "the indecent Kalabash kopdoek' pic”. :-) Sheesh - there was no winning with this man!
The big problem is that Daan Botes is reading 'Eilande / Islands' wherein he has worked out that Eva would have worn a Dutch kappie: http://openlibrary.org/works/OL2874700W/Eilande
So now he is in favour of finding a pic that looks like this: http://www.cns.com.au/dutchfolkdancing/Photos.html
Can someone PLEASE help him to find a pic of a khoisan woman wearing a wit kopdoek so he can make peace with the pic that we use of his and our granny.
:-)
