George "The Cavalier" Mason 1629 - Family of George "The Cavalier" Mason, I (1629

I need all the help I can get with primary Colonial Virginia families, including the Masons. More American Curators ARE needed, believe me!

I took a quick look at George "The Cavalier" Mason and find that I have done no work on it. I believe it was one of the profiles reassigned to me when a former Curator left. I have no research on the Mason line, so I would be starting from scratch to respond to your questions.

If this is an area where you are working and you would like to take over curation of the profile, please do so, with my blessing.

Actually, I'm looking for someone who may know the area ... I just got here via some profiles I 'inherited", too!

The Mason family is so important in early Virginia history and in the founding years of the United States. I saw your post in another discussion. I hope we can find someone who will dig into this family and give it the work it needs.

Has anyone been working here on the Mason's? don't see any post after 2012.... I am related to Sarah Mason... no record of her father Being George I .... but he wills land to her children... seems they would be related

Welcome to the discussion, Melody! Any info you can dig up to help "clean up" is appreciated! Let us know if there are corrections which you need help with implementing ... just be sure to add documentation to the profiles so anyone else coming along later can see what 'evidence' led to the decisions.

Trying real hard to prove George Mason was Sarah Mason's father... can't figure out why he would give her children land if they weren't his grandkids

Melody Dawn Blaz, Sarah Elizabeth Mason is the daughter of George Mason I (1629-1686). Sarah E Mason married Andrew Barbee. The children indicated in George Mason I will are his grandchildren that were left orphans. He was concerned that they should have something of the Mason heritage.

The primary questions, as I see it at the moment, pertain to the wives of George "the Cavalier", their ages (b & d), and marriage dates.
