Hello all, completing some merges in this area and there seems to be a potential conflict on the husband of Mary Ruth Philips, parents of Henry Phillips, of Dedham & Boston.

There appears to be two John Phillips profiles.
* Unknown Profile, son of Robert Phillips, of Calvert County & Elizabeth Sargent
* John Phillips, of Dedham, son of Christopher Phillips, of Devon & Agnes Abrams

Online trees show both, so I wanted to start a discussion for the managers. Questions:
* Are there two Mary Ruth Gerrard's, each marrying a different John Phillips? If so, which is the parent of Henry?
* Is there one Mary Ruth Gerrard and one of the John Phillips profiles is just wrong? If so, which John Phillips?
* Is the John Phillips that married Mary Ruth Gerrard, the same John Phillips that married Mary Street?

Robert Phillips, of Calvert County - theoretically the son of a baronet - settled in Calvert MD. It is unlikely this family has anything at all to do with a Puritan verified on the Winthrop fleet of 1630 http://www.winthropsociety.com/settlers.php#surnames

So the line of descent, for Dedham, MA, of Christopher > John, is much more likely.

The compiler site of http://www.conovergenealogy.com/dkcances/dkcances-o/p343.htm#i261231 is decent. You will notice both wives have fathers in MA.

Without going much further I'd suspect a disconnect is needed of Mary Ruth Philips from the Maryland guy. Check the birth places of the children.

Here's a Phillips DNA project with submitted pedigrees. I'm going to use it to disambiguate.

Ok I think this is sorted. The outstanding issue is Elizabeth Sargent

I've seen her listed as a possible wife for George Phillips, unconfirmed. So I'm inclined to leave her as "driftwood"
