"Hiedie wapen het in 1946 in gebruik gekom en is is 'n variant van die wapen van die Neederlandse familie Potgieter" bl255.
He is not your very own but ours ( my 8th g grandfather.).
It is the one depicted above in the smart matches by Michael on the van Zyl website.

My eighth great grandfather too. What about us agreeing to use the the one mentioned in Pama? If you click on the media tab on his profile page, you will see that I have uploaded the Pama family crest for Potgieter.

Hello Dries, I see we are 6th cousins. I hope nobody's fighting. I'd say 6th ggrandpa trumps us all :-)

oh wow, I started a war when I just wanted to make the profiles look more individual like.

I am sorry if I offended with my creative-mind - I just find it boring and also sometimes hard to distinguish the profiles as they all look the same with no image (or all the same image) and some text ....

I don't think of of us are more important than the other, no matter what distance we are from the PROG.

Herman Janz Potgieter happens to be my 8th great father, Potgieter all the way up to the top. That is why I started at his profile - many of the PROG's is my 5/6/7 great parent, but not all of them are Potgieter's and I had to start at a point.

I notice the image is removed.

was not that I created a new family-crest ...
it should have read a new image for my very own PROG and adding it ... and of course he is all your PROG too - I did not mean his just mine. One has to be careful in the choice of words, specially when the other person can not see you.

So I am sorry for upsetting you guys ... was never the intention.

C.Pama-Die Groot Afrikaanse Familienaamboek crest is fine - but it will be boring too if it is everybody's profile photo that does not have a photo ...

It is very expensive to register a family crest and a very few families truly have a crest.

Okay - perhaps the "crest-like" image might create confusion or give the impression that that is the crest for the person.

So I tried something new ... just to give the profile a different look than all the rest.

I will in time do so for all the profiles I link to (If you link to one I don't link to and you want something, I will gladly help) that is without a photo - just to add color and also to make it more individual like

Why this is seen as a "fight" is beyond me. Surely we are allowed to express our differing opinions.
Not all of us are comfortable with changes to our environment even semi public spaces such as this are scary places.
I am sure Willa especially will now understand .

Sorry for using the word "fight" I should have used the Afrikaans term " Bek geveg" Wiila, ek weet jy het dit goed bedoel maar ek het geleer moenie krap waar dit nie jeuk nie. I think in English they have a saying "Let well enough be"

ag ons is familie en lief vir mekaar - sorry vir die bek-ge-veg wat ek veroorsaak het - darem is ons almal nog heel .. Change is good Peter :-)

Ek moet se, ek voel trots om familie te wees en ek is veral trots op my Potgeiter-erfernis. Ek voel erg bevoorreg.

Ek is so af en toe op skype en het al die voorreg gehad om met Dries te praat ... die van julle wat dit gebruik, ek sal van volgende week op die oggende meer gereeld in skype wees ... darem makliker om face to face te praat as per swart letters op die skerm.

Willa ek hou ook nie van gesiglose profiele nie. Ek probeer die grafstene kry of iets wat aan die persoon gekoppel is. Ek stem saam ek sien geen "bekgevegte" nie. LOL.

Ja - ek soek ook altyd eers na die grafte se foto's as ek nie die gesig foto kan kry nie :-) Maar ek merk dat baie van die PROG's is of gesigloos of min of meer dieselfde foto ... ai ...
