Margaret Shepey

I used this as one source: Mecalfe pp 191-192 (as seen on http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Elliot-175), and the two sources that were on the profile of one of the Margaret profiles, and sorted out the relationships and children accordingly.

After sorting all that out (and attempting to keep the Sources 'attached' to at least one of the corresponding profiles, Leslie Ann's note above now appears to be 'garbled' -- not because it was originally, but simply as a result of untangling the relationships!

Unknown Profile is married to 1st wife Wife 1 Eliot and 2nd wife Margaret Sheppey. John is son of Thomas son-of Richard son-of Thomas ... as indicated by Mecalfe (i.e. Visitation of Essex, 1612).

The other Margaret & John (Unknown Profile & John "Sr, the elder" Eliot, of Bishops Stortford) is quite a bit less certain; the two documents attached to that Margaret seem o.k. and seem to NOT be of the aforementioned Margaret. Margaret B's father is mentioned in her death reference as Richard.

What is needed is better confirmation of the marriage dates of Unknown Profile and the births of his children by both wives.

Hopefully this will be a cleaner 'starting point' for continuing to sort-out the Eliott clan in this area!

FYI some of the MH trees (and other online trees) have a Margaret+John with a son John born when Margaret would be 2 -- clearly not correct.

John "Sr, the elder" Eliot, of Bishops Stortford is actually the one who married Elizabeth and Margaret Shepey and is the father of Blythe and the other children.

The burial source for the Unknown Profile is actually for a John Heliott
that was buried 9 Jul 1557 in London.
