King Harald Bluetooth

In Denmark, archaeologists have discovered the remains of a 1,000-year-old Viking fortress
that may have been built by King Harald Bluetooth.

Mentioning a magazine in a way that looks like advertising is not wise.... still, this is interesting material for us followers of saga history, so I'll repeat it:

"Late tenth century" (950-999) fits with our current estimates on Harald "Blue Tooth", king of Denmark, which is 910-986.

It is problely the biggest find in Denmark since the last one was found 60 years ago.
So Harald was king of all danes or wanted to be, Hence the militairy defences.

dette er utrolig spændende nyt , må håbe der findes penge til at grave det hele fri.

If this is the case, then isn't Susan Lynne Schwenger owed an apology from whoever reported her?

i simply posted an article - including its tag lines (didn't realize it went to a subscription - maybe, someone could simply edit the last line out of my original posting

the viking trenches in ireland are interesting too: http://archive.archaeology.org/1101/trenches/viking.html

No worries Susan - there's been so much spam posted in discussions that I think a lot of people are pretty trigger-happy. Now it's reinstated!

I sometimes read my own postings before posting and ask myself "could this be misinterpreted as...", and one of the things to check for is "spam".

Very interestingand thks for your hard work Susan and for your posting

:-)

It is a big thing this find. Made the 6 o'clock news. Nit every day that happens. You can even see the outline of the fortress on Google earth.
It is very exciting.
The fortress might have been destroyd in a battle.
