As I was reading some posts on ancestry.com, I found one which I believe confirms that @Lord Edward Francis Howard (1640-1722), commonly known as just Francis Howard, was definitely NOT the son of Earl Henry Frederick Howard and Elizabeth Stuart. The writer of this post had come across a book available on google called "The Life of Philip Thomas Howard OP, Cardinal of Norfolk" written by Charles Ferrers Raymund Palmer. Philip was a son of Earl Henry and Elizabeth. In the book Palmer talks about how Philip's brother, who was named Francis, joined Holy Orders and died in Geele, Belgium in 1683. It talks in great detail on pages 117 and 118 in Chapter 5 about Philip's brother, Francis. This Francis is obviously totally different than our american Francis who married Mary Chowan and fathered @James Obediah Howard and @Thomas A. Howard. The grandfather of James and Thomas was NOT the Earl. Unless I am missing something, some necessary corrections and separations need to be made to this geni profile. Thanks. Charles.
Could we get some proper sourcing done for this tree, please, starting with - is his name Edward or Francis or does no one really know?
Is there such a thing as a "Lord Edward Francis Howard."? lord of what, where and when?
The 22nd duke of Arundel Sir Henry Frederick Howard, 22nd Earl of Arundel had 3 surviving sons: Thomas "the lunatic," Henry "the cruel" & Charles "the Cardinal.".
"The Duke of Norfolk's Case" looks to be part of a standard law curriculum and can be viewed here as a case study from a textbook:

I've disconnected "Francis Edward" from these parents, and would like to understand who exactly his sons (?) married. Was there a James SR son of James Obadiah?
