Private User writes about Christoffel Snijman that =the Carruthers family of Zimbabwe (orignally from Southern Scotland then Scandinavia) share the same I1-M253 DNA with Christoffel Snyman. I would be interested if any SNYMAN researchers have CARRUTHERS in their ancestry beyond the 1700's
At the moment Geni shows no direct blood relationship between the two SV.PROGS' fathers:
James Carruthers
→ James Carruthers, SV/PROG
his son → Norman Hewitt Carruthers
his son → Maude Mary Elizabeth Carruthers (Gowar)
his wife → Richard Edwin Diplock Gowar
her father → Harriett Gowar (Wheeler)
his mother → James ii Wheeler
her brother → Aletta Francina F Marais
his wife → Jeremias Jesaias Marais, d1e4f9
her father → Cornelia Aletta Janse van Rensburg (Marais), d1e4f7
his sister → Frederik Rudolphus Janse van Rensburg, b1c5d7
her husband → Hester Magdalena Botha, b1c2d5
his mother → Jacobus Botha, b1c4
her father → Maria Magdalena Botha (Snyman), b3
his mother → Christoffel Snyman
her father → Hans Christoffel Snyman (Schneider), SV/PROG
his father
But I presume you'd have to go back to the Carruthers' Scandinavian ancestor to find it.
It's a long shot that there is any connection - that Y DNA haplogroup will belong to millions and millions of men - but it still worth exploring the possibility.
