My tree shows a Mary Mowbray b 1348 in Kirklington, Yorkshire , d 1413 daughter of John Mowbray married to Thomas Saltmarsh. I can’t reconcile this with any info anywhere. Other members of My Heritage site show this John Mowbray to be the 3rd Baron Mowbray. This looks to be incorrect. 3rd Baron didn’t have a daughter Mary according to Richardson.
Website ardrosshouse.com shows many branches of the Mowbrays and I’m checking through the line of John de Mowbray d 1373 Judge m Margaret Percy. Ardrosshouse site doesn’t show any children born to these two. I’m looking for a John (de) Mowbray with a daughter Mary. Does any one know of children born to John de Mowbray and Margaret Percy – a son John perhaps. But:
Washington.ancestryregister.com/MOWBRAY00006 shows:
hildren from this marriage were:

11. i. William DE MOWBRAY was born circa 1340 in Easby, Yorkshire, England and died about 1391 of Barton, Yorkshire, England about age 51.
12. ii. John DE MOWBRAY was born circa 1343 in Easby, Yorkshire, England.
13. iii. (Sir) Alexander DE MOWBRAY 309 was born circa 1346 in Easby, Yorkshire, England 309 and died before 1369 of Kirklington, Yorkshire, England.309

This John De Mowbray #12 could be who I’m looking for but can find nothing on him. Appreciate any help here. Thanks. Judith Davis

@ Hatte what does your message mean?

@ Help. I can't understand this site. I've put my question. Now what? How do you get help on this site?

I can look for the link or URL for you. Basically if you are in Profile View on a profile and you put your mouse in the rectangular "address" bar at the top and middle of your browser page, it will highlight a URL or address that you can copy and then paste into discussions.

I am a volunteer Geni curator. We and other Geni users who are seasoned can help in discussions. There is a specific Help Curator Assistance discussion thread that is a sticky post.

You are doing just the right thing posting a separate thread to discuss a particular profile / individual.

Some Geni profiles - particularly historic profiles, are curated and deemed as Master Profiles (MPs), so I was hoping that with a link or address, we would see if there was a curator and other experts / managers who knew a bit about this individual. I don't work in this period but I do have a Mowbray in my early American Johnson tree on Geni.

The @ sign will bring up URLs also. So if you were following me and typed @ followed by Hatte, my link would appear and you could click on it to add it to the discussion.

Alternatively, and more easily, just mouse over my blue name/hyperlink and copy and paste that into the discussion.

Be back in a minute with a URL / link for Mary Mowbray if she is on Geni.

John de Mowbray, 2nd Baron Mowbray

Margaret Mowbray

Ofir Friedman and Jason Scott Wills are curators associated with the Yorkshire de Mowbray family it appears.

I do not see a daughter Mary and I do not find any Thomas Saltmarsh or Mary Mowbray Saltmarsh on Geni.

I meant to say no Mary Saltmarsh or Thomas Saltmarsh from that time period.

Also, Geni is a crowd sourced genealogy site, which means that people collaborate on building the World Family Tree, and on developing and improving profiles for the members of any branch.

The ways to see if there are people knowledgeable about de Mowbray in Yorkshire and Saltmarsh are:

1) to post in public discussions just as you have done
2) to contact the profile managers of the person you are asking questions about

For example, go to the profile of John de Mowbray, 2nd Baron Mowbray and on the middle right you will see an option to Contact Profile Manager. Click on that and it will bring up an already filled out email to the managers. You should add your specific question to that email. The email will have a link to the profile.

Option 1 (start a public discussion) might be preferable since there could be people on Geni who know the de Mowbray in Yorkshire family and are conversant with reliable sources who are not managers of the profile in question.
