Christine and Erica, Dr. John Clarke is my 10th uncle I'm descended from his father Joseph Clarke. My uncle John Clarke did not have any children. My Clarke line is proven.
Erica, please remove the listed children for Dr. John Clarke and lock it. Also, let me know when it's done. I would also encourage anyone interested in Dr. John Clarke to read my article about him that was published in the Providence Journal and can be read under Publications on my website, www.frostphotography.com.
Christine, thank you for pointing out the error on Dr. John Clarke's profile.
Thanks, Susan Frost

This CLARKE family of Newport, RI married CLARK's of New Haven/Middletown/Otis, MA.
Thank you so much guys, you have no idea how much easier / faster this fix is with help.
There was a died young daughter of the second marriage.
This family needs filling in / finding, if anyone is intrigued (I am)
Rev. Dr. John Clarke's third wife was Sarah, the widow of Nicholas Davis, with whom Clarke had had a long association. Davis, like Clarke, had been an early settler of Aquidneck Island in 1639, but became a merchant and moved to Hyannis in the Plymouth Colony.[112] Davis had many business dealings in Massachusetts, but when he became a Quaker, he was imprisoned and banished from there in 1659, and later lived in Newport.[113] He transported Quaker founder George Fox from Long Island to Newport in 1672, during Fox's visit to the American colonies. Soon thereafter Davis drowned, and within a year and a half his widow married Clarke.[112] Sarah survived Clarke, and died sometime about 1692.[22] She had children who were remembered in her husband's will.[114]

How can I help? You are looking to fill in the Davis connection?
Is there a way for ALL profiles that have current or previous discussion topics to show up or key us in that there is a discussion, even if I have already clicked on the discussion tab? I know a number shows up if I have NEVER clicked on discussion, but it goes away after. Thanks!
I think if you follow a profile mentioned in a discussion you receive a notification. If youve already seen the discussion the counter won't show, but you can review them from the "discussion" tab.
I'm consolidating the "other" Nicholas Davis, who I'm related to
Nicholas Davis, of Charlestown, Woburn & York
And have good sources / collab to work with on it.
But this guy in Newport & Plymouth, who looks quite interesting -- where are his kids? Sources? Etc.
For example
Proflle Notes (from Savage?) have this Nicholas as son of Dolor Davis & Margery Willard, but there is not a Nicholas in the children mentioned in the Dolor Davis proflle
Hello Christine,
Thank you for your compliments on my photography. I hope you found my article on Dr. John Clarke helpful and informative. Happy to collaborate with you on any of our mutual Clarke relatives or others as you discover the shared connections.
Best regards,
Susan Frost
P.S. Tried to post this as a private message to you but I couldn't "send' it. Probably some glitch in the Geni system right now.
Dr. John Clarke did not have children and I believe that the error can be traced back to Edna Clark Schnautz' work which has been widely disseminated.I have a copy of her manuscript. For years we all believed that we were descended form Dr. John Clarke and several of my family members including me visited the John Clarke Society in Newport on genealogical explorations. During my research I have found no evidence that Dr. John Clarke fathered any children in England or in the Colonies. I believe that I may have found the error in her work and I am looking for additional information to see if I am looking in the right direction.
Jacob Clarke is the first verifiable ancestor that I can trace back to in the Alanson Clark line. Edna Clark Schnautz lists his father as an Abraham Clark of Bristol, England but the I have found his father listed in "Representative Men and Old Families of Rhode Island: Genealogical Records and Historical Sketches of Prominent and Representative Citizens and of Many of the Old Families" (J.H. Beers & Company, 1908) on p. 1022, "“Abraham Clarke a tailor by trade who was an inhabitant of Bristol Mass not far from 1675 that territory then being a part of Plymouth Colony He died prior to 1679 There are strong indications that he was closely related to some of the Clarke families who settled in Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay Colonies and that he probably came to Bristol about 1675 at all events no trace of his relationship to any of the other Clarke families of Rhode Island is found Abraham Clarke had children: Jacob and Bridget.
-Jacob Clarke son of Abraham born in 1668 married Ethalannah daughter of William and Isabel Potter Burton who was born in 1672 and they were residents of Providence and Cranston RI respectively."
The error that Mrs. Schnautz may have made is that she listed Abraham as living in Bristol England rather than Bristol, Massachusetts. If so, the Bristol Clarks are not related to the Rhode Island Clarks.
I am looking for more information on this Abraham Clark of Bristol, Mass.
So sorry, I just noticed an error in my message. It should state that Abraham Clarke lived in Bristol, Rhode Island, not Mass.
The Bristol Clarkes are not related to the other Rhode Island Clarkes and most certainly not Dr. John Clarke.

Attn: Erica Howton and People Seeking Information about Nicholas Davis, Quaker, of Barnstable, MA and of Newport, RI ---
Greetings Erica!
Thank you for working on the genealogy of "Nicholas Davis" (b. ca 1627, ENG; d. 1672, Newport, RI). I am a direct descendant of him, and have studied his life for over 20 years now.
I don't mean to be a "Wendy Downer", but 90% of the info provided by some Geni members is incorrect about his life, and he was the nephew (and not a son) of Dolar Davis.
Many people confuse "my" Nicholas with the Nicholas Davis of Woburn, ME.
If you desire to get the more historically correct facts about my ancestral grandfather, feel free to email me, Dr. Frank "Mike" Davis c/o rootsquestpress@yahoo.com.
Have a great week! ...MIke
PS. So far, 4 USA Davis families and myself have close Y-DNA matches in common with Dolar Davis.
I don’t think it’s a match, the locations are wrong.
However I have found her sister Hannah’s Brenton husband
