In the About-box for Thomas Welles it says:
"Birth: 1590 Willenhall, England Death: Jan. 14, 1659 Wethersfield Hartford County Connecticut, USA"
That makes mother Alice four years younger, 47 years old, which is the same age as when my gm gave birth to her fifth child, my mother. To give birth at that high age was kind of a shame, as women at higher age were supposed to have no sexlife. Giving birth was kind of a proof they had. A high age for a father was kind of remarkable "skill" and proved his masculinity.
Anyhow the biological fertile period for females are normally between 12-55 years of age, with individual variations. The peak is between 20-28 years of age, when it's most easy to get pregnant.
If the year of birth for Thomas is changed then maybe the place of birth should change too.
I'm not sure we have a reliable source for the birth date of Gov Welles mother.
However the Welles Family Association has these notes for his birth date and place:
Phrased another way, what was intended by the above facts may be stated as follows:
Thomas Welles was born
1.in or near Whichford, Warwickshire
2. around 1590
