I am also seeing the same problem, but it is not consistent. Not consistent in the sense that some profiles it works for, and others it doesn't and I have yet to discern any obvious pattern to it.
Record matches (marriages, census, etc) are not there sometimes - it times out apparently before it ever displays them. I know they should be there, but they aren't.
In some cases - I just confirmed them - and then they are gone...
It shows the correct number on the Sources tab, but when I go to that tab - it sits for a long time, times out - and never shows the sources that should be there...
Donald - I have the same issue with time outs (etc) you do, and have advised Geni, who is coordinating with MyHeritage on the API (application programming interface) across platforms.
Tobias - thank you for the example. Your issue is, I believe, by design. The record for the baptism is "read only" residing on MyHeritage servers, so cannot (currently) be edited in Geni, even by ticking off which specific fields in the Geni profile the data supports. So when you confirm as a match it adds itself as a source (good). But you cannot then work with it further.
Donald, thanks a lot for the exactly description, that is my problem, too. Especially you've seen them a second before and then they are gone.
Erica, that's right I can add,but not work with it further. It is even very uncomfortably! If I get a request from someone to a profile, I can not use the sources, I already added, but have to search for them again.
Well, I only talking about record matches, not about smart matches.
Yes, this design is for RecordMatches (ochre) & for SmartMatches from FamilySearch.org trees (only) (green).
When I get a RecordMatch I'd like to work with further (for instance, a baptism record such as in your example), I've developed a couple of methods.
- copy & paste the RecordMatch info into the event field on the timeline tab
- and / or copy & paste into the "about" for the profiles mentioned
When I get a RecordMatch for a download able document such as a census report -
- I create a custom event on the profile for "residence"
- I select download the document
- I use the "add a link" in the source tab to copy & paste the download URL into that box
- I add as document to the residence event on the timeline tab
- I cite as source and tick off the referenced fields
- I use the "blank" in the citation screen to make miscellaneous notes e.g. For a census, widower
Tobias - I agree " it is not okay, when geni offers its users a chargeable service without the full performance" - especially if that service is explicitly spelled out as what you are purchasing and it is not spelled out that it might not be fully functional - HOWEVER - when I first became Pro, the Record Matches were, I believe, ONLY to MyHeritage -- -- is it better for Geni to try to expand what they offer (once someone has paid, and at no additional cost) or to not expand services until and unless they are sure they will work perfectly (both as Geni and the User expect)?
