have skip a generation?
and Guibour was a widow of a musmlim wali

His wife Guitburgi is said to have been the widow of the Moorish wali of Orange taken by William in his battles against the Umayyad army of Hisham I in and around the county of Narbona about 793-796.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_of_Gellone

était la veuve du wali musulman de la ville d'Orange, tué lors de la reconquête de la ville par Guillaume.

Guibour's parents are unknown.

MedLands doesn't even guess:

Todd Farmerie (and others) have suggested she might have been a daughter of Lambert of Hornbach:

The idea that Guibourg was the widow of a Muslim prince is an old legend, not supported by any sources. Wikipedia is not a good source for something like this.

La Geste de Garin de Monglane is a collection of French poems from the 13th century. They contain a heavily fictionalized account of the life of William de Gellone (combined with details from maybe another dozen different people). The story that Guibour was a converted Saracen named Orable is one of those stories.

It's like using Bram Stoker's novel Dracula as a source for the historical Vlad the Impaler.

medlands have not a hyperthymestics of history its only a translation well i have allready discuss this

when we do french genealogy the thing are not in english book thats sure
archiverrootwed is far to be a good sourcing not to mention

i think we can do better than that

For something like this, the experts are reading the information in all different languages. So, if you disagree, you need to go fine an expert who disagrees. It's not enough to find a link to someone's website where the information is just copied from some place without citing a source.

Lambert, count of Hornbach Gerberge de Laon Countess of Hornbach will be deleted?

33rd great parents...i am ok with this idea to deletion and mark parents unknow to Guibour De Gelonne /von Hornbach//ancestry is not valid so

You'd rather cut the relationship to Lambert?

its you that say that Guibour von Hornbach parents are unknow
i have give i think a good 2 link at my shearch and its not fiting with geni

I was just surprised that you would be arguing to cut a connection in the same thread where you said you wanted to change it.

Since Lambert's parents are also unknown it makes very little difference in my opinion whether we cut the line at Lambert or Guibour.

in french genealogy they know the parenting
but its ok i go with your decision

I know quite a few French researchers who would be very upset if someone said they must accept a fake line just because they're French ;)

surly those ppl are related to napoleon its a good excuse to be upset :P

;)

But seriously -- this part of the tree should not be a struggle. There are many interesting debates at the "edges" but reliable information is easy to find if you know where to look.

To make it a little easier for Geni users, I created a new project with the ahnentafel Todd Farmerie compiled nearly 20 years ago.
