Colin Bruce Milne you've left a tree conflict on this profile after your power merges. Can you come & fix it, or others of us have to clean up after you - and you've left me 15 Tree Conflicts, so I'm battling to keep up with you.
Hi Sharon
I'm very sorry for the situation that exists however, I don't have much knowledge of this merge. I will definitely look into this and see if I can resolve this issue. I don't think I caused this. That is what I know for now. My knowledge is limited to issues such as this as well.
Possibly you can enlighten me to help resolve.
Regards, Mark
Can I just say this. Please stop creating tree conflicts. I feel exactly the same way that Sharon and Shmuel feel. This is nonsense to keep merging. If something seems like it needs to be merged, create a message or a discussion. Most people, even if they are not a curator know if something is right or wrong from research.
King David is my 94th Great Grand Father. But now for King Solomon:
I think there is problem to get enough colors to connect him to his 300 wives plus 700 concubines.
Another strange thing is that his son married some off his wives. Now I wonder are it those that Solomon hadn`t time enough to come to.
When I looked the first time (out of pure curiosity) if I am "related" to King David : I was surprised that I am.
When I wanted to show the relationship path to my daughter : I was surprised that I'm not related.
A third time looking : I was related
A fourth time looking := NOW : I'm not related.
Either / Or
Who is meddling with the tree connections here? It's not vital for me to be connected to King David but it seems like :
taking a daisy flower, pulling off the petalls thinking :
he loves me/ he loves me not.......
Is there a report/list that you can go to that will list "Tree Conflicts" for the merges that you have done?
Currently I can see tree conflicts for
- Profiles that I am the main manager
- Profiles that I follow (which would include profiles that I am secondary manager)
I haven't found any way to see all the "Tree Conflicts" that I may have inadvertantly created on profiles that I don't follow/manage. Personally I would like to fix them but I can't find them to fix them.
For example if you merge a profile that you are a manager on (or following) it can lead to many many merges on profiles that you aren't a manager of. When merging it seems to only show conflicts on profiles that are showing on the screen at the time the merge is completed -
Example if I merge John - who has parents Peter and Mary - it will show me conflicts on Peter and Mary.
If I fix Peter it would show me conflicts on Peters parents and Mary.
If I go to Peter's father and fix him - it will show me conflicts on Peters Mother and Mary and peter's father's parents.
If I fix Peter's grandfather - Mary will drop off the list of profiles to be fixed.
I go hunting for them but I am sure that I miss some of them particularly if lots of profiles end up being involved.
I believe that someone mistakenly made an attempt to do something with their personal family tree without realizing it effects the main Tree as well. Therefore I would put a note out to the Primary Curator to make ANY changes as a Consultation. This person usually has the greatest knowledge among the users. This way it's not after the fact and promoting a path to the correct procedure. Kindest regards, Mark Lieberman
Leanne,
From your Home page, orange Notifications box, blue Merge Issues link, click through to your Merge Center, choose Data Conflicts, select one of 4 parameters, resolve conflicts directly or by sending messages to managers (depending on whether you manage the profile or not).
Everyone should be clearing their lists everyday, but not everyone does...
Leanne M (Volunteer Curator - Australia) 🇦🇺 -- that function doesn't exist now. But we have heard it is in the works.
Leanne,
You asked for a way to find a list of data conflicts for profiles you have merged.
I provided that way in my note to you.
My suggestion is that you "follow" profiles you have merged after you have merged them.
In this way you can 1) keep tabs on the progress (or undoing) of your work and 2) click Followed By Me in order to work on Data Conflicts for said profiles.
There are many "work-arounds" to use while waiting for new functions to be implemented, and this is one. So, Merge, Follow, and then correct Data Conflicts as they appear. As always, actual Tree Conflicts can be worked on in Tree View.
Easy enough, no?
