Hi Judith, There comes a time when we reach the end of the road of recorded parentage. I have encountered this often when researching ancient ancestors. It is disappointing and sad. Nobility had courtesans who traced the lineage of potential marriage partners to keep the blood royal. Historians picked up the records and maintained them. So if an ancient ancestor was not of royal heritage, finding them is extremely difficult.
