John Lackland is my 22nd great-grandfather through my maternal grandmother's line. I am descended through Edward Plantagenet's daughter Elizabeth. I STRONGLY suspect there are many more branches to explore as my Maternal grandmother's mother's line goes up through Edward I and off into Europe, however her father's line goes into Norway and King Haaken V (not sure of the spelling) and beyond. Fascinating stuff genealogy!!
Merry Christmas Cousins!
The path to me from Rollo the Ganger (my 32GGF) can flow through his 3GGS William the Conqueror and thus through Henry I, Henry II, John, Henry III and Edward I who married Eleanor of Castile, the grandaughter of Alfonso IX of Castile. Butt it flows in shorter fashion through the Conqueror's 2nd cousin Hawise, making Rollo my 30GGF. In addition , it passes through Mahaut de Bretagne (my 24GGM) and her husband Walter de Gaunt who is descended from Charlemagne (34GGF) and Saint Arnulf of Mainz (my 39GGF). Anyone who is descended from Nathaniel Foote the Settler (1592-1644) of Wethersfield CT has such notable ancestors and many more through the Welsh connections. @William Harold Roe
