For years, I believed that Lucia Lucretia Lucy Smith, daughter of Josiah Smith & Rhoda Tinker of Lyme, CT, born 9 Nov 1734 according to the Lyme Birth Records, married Jedediah Sage of Middletown, CT on 14 Nov 1755, but I am not sure now.
The marriage records in Middletown show that a JEDEDIAH SAGE married a LUCIA SMITH in 1755. No mention of her parentage is listed.
The marriage records in Lyme show that a JAMES HUNTLEY married a LUCRETIA SMITH, both of LYME, on 21 Aug 1750. She would be 16 which is young for New England, but possible.
Jedediah Sage of Middletown had a sister Lucia Sage. Entries from Connecticut Church Record Abstracts call her LUCY.
There was a LUCY SMITH born in Glastonbury to a BENONI SMITH. So there could be a typo between LUCY and LUCIA, but she is probably not LUCRETIA right?
So who is LUCY/LUCIA SMITH who married JEDEDIAH SAGE of MIDDLETOWN, CT?
Their children were all baptized in the Cromwell Church.
There was another JEDEDIAH SAGE in nearby Berlin, CT, but he married a Marcy.
I found a LUCY SMITH born in Glastonbury, CT on 30 April 1736 to a BENONI SMITH. This Benoni has no spouse listed. He had Amos, Benjamin, Elisha, Lucy, Samuel and Sarah, all born in Glastonbury between 1734 and 1749. He also might be the Benoni in an East Hartford Church that baptized an Amos on 2 Jul 1749 and Benoni is also called of "Hartford."
Jedediah and Lucy named two sons Amos and Elisha, no Benoni though.
A Benoni Smith died 8 Mar 1776 in Glastonbury. Again no idea if this is even the right family. Glastonbury is kinda close to Middletown.
