Hi Everyone,

Is there not enough conclusive information available to determine the real parents of Margaret Astley? Note that two different sets parents are given here.

Thanks,

Amy

take a look at the citations in Richardson's Magna Carta Ancestry

https://books.google.com/books?id=8JcbV309c5UC&lpg=PA56&ots...

Perhaps there are more recent discussions on "which" Sir Thomas Boteler, Knight and "which" Elizabeth?

And there's a profile comment:

In the Astley pedigree she is referred to as the daughter of Sir William Boteler of Warrington (d. 26 09 1415). But dates do not seem to fit; and the biographer of Sir William has been able to establish only two children.

So it may come down to a matter of opinion ....

I see in the biographic notes for Sir William Boteler, of Bewsey, MP

"Sir William also left a daughter named Elizabeth, who later married the son and heir presumptive of Nicholas Boteler* of Rawcliffe, John’s colleague in the Leicester Parliament of 1426.8"

Which makes it unlikely that he was Margaret's father, as he had 1 son, 1 daughter, according to his History of Parliament biography.

Agreed that she should be disconnected from that set of parents?

Yes, agreed.

Margaret Astley's parents are back to Sir William and Elizabeth Standish. Has there been more information since 8/10/2017?

Fran Whyte (Adams) Not that I know of. Disconnected from parents and locked relationships - anyone with evidence can present by discussion.

Thanks, that clears it up.
