The date of birth (1796) currently showing on the profile of R' Benjamin Katzenellenbogen, Rosh Beth Din Krotoschin makes no sense. It does't fit with anything in the about section. (He was a pupil of Samuel Helman (of the Heilprin family) of Metz (died 1766)! ... He was the author of Or Chachamim, published in 1752, Frankfurt-on-Oder; Lev Chachamim published in 1773, Dyhernfurth; and Menorat Zahav, including Or Olam, Or Chadash and Or Torah, published 1775, Dyhernfurth...)
On the other hand, he couldn't have been born much earlier if Meyer (Max) Katzenellenbogen and Adolph Albert Eisig Katzenellenbogen were his sons, born in 1825 and 1834 respectively.
Was an earlier merge wrong? Thomas Föhl (c), Kevin Lawrence Hanit ?
It looks like the source is The Unbroken Chain - Neil Rosenstein (1990) Volume 1, Chapter 11. Can anyone help?

See page 34 G9.2 of Volume 1 of the third edition for more information about R' Benjamin.
R' Benjamin died in 1789 in Kotoschin, birth info not known.
It looks like there are a few generations missing between the now incorrect children of R' Benjamin and their grandfather R' Saul (died in 1761 in Krotoschin)
If you want me to list off the lineage, I would be happy to do so.
R' Benjamin had 2 listed siblings: Hanale, who married Eliezer Lazer Heilprin, and Yekel (Jacob), who married Yota (they both died in 1761). R' Benjamin had no issue.
Someone of the G9 generation was the father of:
G10. Meir Katzenellenbogen of Krotoschin, died about 1820.
G11. Saul Katzenellenbogen, a merchant, born in Krotoschin about 1795-1800, married Friederike, daughter of Jeremias.
G12.1. Moses Katzenellenbogen, born in Krotoschin about 1813.
G12.2. Gabriel Katzenellenbogen, born in Krotoschin about 1817.
G12.3. Mendel Katzenellenbogen, born in Krotoschin about 1819.
G12.4. Meir (Max) Katzenellenbogen of Krotoschin, 1822-1887, an agriculturer. He had 11 children (not entered here)
G12.5. Lotte, borne in Krotoschin about 1824.
G12.6. Hirsch Katzenellenbogen, born in Krotoschin about 1825.
G12.7. Jeremias Katzenellenbogen, born in Krotoschin about 1826.
G12.8. Bertha, born in Krotoschin about 1828.
G12.9. Roeschen, born in Krotoschin about 1831.
G12.10. Chaya, born in Krotoschin in 1832 and died there in 1833.
G12.11. Adolf (Itzig) Katzenellenbogen, born in Krotoschin on September 16, 1834 and died in Berlin in October 1903. He married a distant relative, Eva Katzenellenbogen.
Thanks very much Kevin.
So, R' Benjamin was of the G9 generation and had two siblings. (They were all the children of Saul G8).
G10 was a Meir, (not the Meir Max now in the tree), who was a son of someone G9, but not of Benjamin who had no children. It was either Yekel or another unknown brother.
Meir G10 had a son Saul G11, and he was the the father of the Meir Max G12.4 and Adolf G12.11, both currently connected as children of their second great uncle R' Benjamin. (The two sons Meir Max 12.4 and Hirsch 12.6 have been mixed into one).
Should I detach Wife of R' Elijah (Eliezer Hirschel) Apter and Jacob Katzenellenbogen from their parents R' Samuel Katzenellenbogen and Reina Katzenellenbogen and move them as children of (R' Samuel Katzenellenbogen's grandson) R' Saul Katzenellenbogen? (And rename Wife of R' Elijah (Eliezer Hirschel) Apter to Hanale)?
Private User,
I need to be directed to the profile of R' Meir Katzenellenbogen, who married Hannah, the daughter of R' Abraham, son of R' Judah HaLevi Mintz. Hannah was R' Judah HaLevi Mintz's granddaughter.
Once I have this, I will go down the tree and make sure that everything is correct as listed by Dr. Rosenstein.
