Someone has added this text to the profile for Nathaniel Parker 1724-1811:
Nathaniel Parker (John Parker father)

birth 1730 Hampshire county Virginia
death 1793.
Ann Clayton Nathaniel wife. Below is a list of the children in birth order of John Parker
marriage about 1776 Culpepper county, VA...

P233 was added to this group on 23 Feb 2009. He descends from Nathaniel PARKER
, born 1730 in Hampshire County, Virginia, died in 1803 in Sumner County Tennessee. Nathaniel married Ann CLAYTON.

The John Parker in the 1776 Culpeper County, VA record belongs to Parker yDNA FamilyGroup #5, while the Nathaniel Parker in this profile belongs to Parker yDNA FamilyGroup #18. These are two distinct and biologically unrelated Parker lines. In addition someone has copied in the text from the University of Tennessee Parker yDNA webpage where it states Nathaniel married Ann CLAYTON. While the Parker yDNA webpage does so state the marriage to Ann Clayton, that information is based upon someone so stating in their yDNA submittal to the University of Tennessee geneticist who manages the website. I have submitted multiple times to get the researcher to change P233's submission to state Elizabeth Scott, but his position is that it's what the person who submitted their yDNA stated and he should not change it. Between the 1828 Francis and Pamelia A. (Parker) Duffy family bible, and the 1851 letter by Ohio Supreme Court Justice Thomas Scott wherein he stated his father's sister Elizabeth Scott married Nathaniel Parker of Hampshire County, VA, and later Sumner County, TN. it should be sufficient to prove that this Nathaniel Parker DID NOT marry Ann Clayton. Add in the argument that if he did marry Ann Clayton born 1726, then Ann Clayton would have borne this Nathaniel Parker's last five children when she was 49, 50, 53, 55 and 57 years old and her ovarian reserve would have long since been depleted.

The two references above to Ann Clayton, and the reference to John Parker of Culpeper County, VA. should be deleted from this profile.

Other Nathaniel Parker....

Nathaniel Parker of Gloucester County

Correct?

Another Nathaniel Parker to glance at .... to make sure nothing is mixed up....

Nathaniel Parker

The Nathaniel Parker in this profile belongs to Parker yDNA Family Group #18 and WAS NOT a Reverand. The Geni profile for the Nathaniel Parker who is stated to have married Ann Clayton can be found here:
Nathaniel Parker of Gloucester County

John Parker (1765-1833) the son of the Nathaniel Parker in this profile migrated from Hampshire County, VA (now Mineral County, W.V.) to Shelby County, KY about 1800, married 1st Mary Rogers, and 2nd Sarah Collier.

While John Parker (1758-1836) is the son of the Nathaniel Parker who married Ann Clayton and can be found at the link two paragraphs above. They belong to Parker yDNA Family Group #5. These are two biologically unrelated Parker lines.

The following text needs to be removed from this profile and added to the one at the link I provided above:
Cynthia Ann Parker
• date of birth 28 October, 1827, Charleston, Coles County, Illinois
• Death 28 October 1864, Anderson county, Texas.
• Cynthia father was Silas Parker and her mother Lucinda Duty.
Silas Parker
• father and mother John Parker and Sally White wife no2
o Martha Duty wife no1.
• religion Baptist, started primitive Baptist church.
John Parker
• date of birth 6th September 1758 Baltimore MD
• date of death 9th 1836, Fort Parker, Texas.

As well as the text related to Ann Clayton previously noted.

Also NOTE that while the DAR and the Parker yDNA websites both state that the Nathaniel Parker of Hampshire County, VA. and later Sumner County, TN who died in 1811 married Ann Clayton. That has been proved wrong. He married Elizabeth Scott as this profile so states in the heading.

My hands are tied to do ANYTHING with any of the Nathaniel Parkers mentioned. I am not the Master Pro for any of them. I have only provided the profiles to look at.

Diana Collins & Joseph E Crouch

You both (any geni member) should be able to edit text within an overview, and please, please do!

I just have a Basic Geni membership and don't see where I have permissions to Edit.

Edit rights are not to do with pro or basic, it's about collaboration with managers usually.

You are (quite correctly) pointing out erroneous notes in the "about" of a profile, not a tree correction. So you should be able to edit or annotate that text.

To do so, try

Profile view > There's a little edit blue hyperlink in the "about". Click it to open it up.

For example

https://www.geni.com/profile/edit_about_me_lb/6000000043484606306

Another way to get there is profile view > Edit profile (on the right) > About tab

That also gets to https://www.geni.com/profile/edit_about_me/6000000043484606306

Joseph you're not yet connected to the world family tree, so that may be the difficulty. Still give it a look / see, because this is important, and you have the knowledge.

Also let's find your family on Geni. :)

I haven't been able to work on my genealogy for quite a while due to illness and just recently did my DNA. As soon as I am able, I will try to drill down and see what I can find out about the Parker family, but I haven't done any alterations to anyone's tree other than my own. Additionally, I have never done a merge to any tree, keeping my tree independent.

Kind regards,

Cindy Daughhetee

Erica,
I already edit/update profiles on WikiTree, WeRelate, FamilySearch and generate my own webpages on Rootsweb Free Pages. I signed up for the Basic membership on Geni so I could view / start Discussions on profiles where I had information to offer. While Geni seems like a good genealogy system I can only learn so many of the different systems. I hope someone can clean up the errors I pointed out.
Joe

I’m glad to do it, just worried I’ll get them confused. If there are correct profiles on other sites someone could link to that will help as I can use them as references & guides.

Thanks Erica! I suggest the following text be added at the top of the ‘OVERVIEW’ tab profiles for each of these Nathaniel Parkers:
=====================================
This profile is for the Nathaniel Parker (1724-1811) who 1st married Elizabeth Scott, 2nd married Mary (Ramsey) Bledsoe and migrated from Hampshire County, VA. (now Mineral County, W.V.) to Greenfield, Sumner County, TN.

NOT to be confused with Nathaniel Parker (1723-1797) of Gloucester County, Virginia, who is stated to have married Ann Clayton. See: Nathaniel Parker of Gloucester County
for the Nathaniel Parker who married Ann Clayton.

Some researchers have confused the two Nathaniel Parkers which are not biologically related according to DNA analysis. This Nathaniel Parker (1724-1811) and his father John Parker who died in 1760 Hampshire County, VA. belong to Parker yDNA Family Group #18.

Excellent, will do. Exactly the kind of disambiguation notes needed with the many Parker’s.

Joseph E Crouch done, and well done. Those are great notes.

Thanks Erica ! Looks Good!

DId you forget the original items in this profile that need to migrate over to the profile for Nathaniel Parker who married Ann Clayton?

Indeed I did forget! Did any geni profiles get misplaced or is it the notes only ?

Erica, since the web based Discussions text box does not allow bolding / color highlighting I’ve inserted my recommendations in Upper Case for the text that is mostly lower case that needs to either move to the profile for the Nathaniel Parker who may have married Ann Clayton; and/or be deleted. I’ve also reviewed the children listed in the profile for the Nathaniel Parker who married Elizabeth Scott. The children listed are the correct ones for Nathaniel Parker and Elizabeth Scott although their birth/death dates are mostly wide ranges. I’ll list the correct birth/death dates at the end of this text:

RECOMMEND MOVING THE FOLLOWING TEXT TO THE PROFILE FOR THE NATHANIEL PARKER WHO MAY HAVE MARRIED ANN CLAYTON:

Cynthia Ann Parker
• date of birth 28 October, 1827, Charleston, Coles County, Illinois
• Death 28 October 1864, Anderson county, Texas.
• Cynthia father was Silas Parker and her mother Lucinda Duty.
Silas Parker
• father and mother John Parker and Sally White wife no2
o Martha Duty wife no1.
• religion Baptist, started primitive Baptist church.
John Parker
• date of birth 6th September 1758 Baltimore MD
• date of death 9th 1836, Fort Parker, Texas.

RECOMMEND JUST DELETING THE FOLLOWING

Nathaniel Parker (John Parker father)
• birth 1730 Hampshire county Virginia
• death 1793.
• Ann Clayton Nathaniel wife. Below is a list of the children in birth order of John Parker marriage about 1776 Culpeper county, VA...

THEN THERE'S THIS TEXT COPIED FROM THE PARKER HERITAGE YDNA WEBSITE:

P233 was added to this group on 23 Feb 2009. He descends from Nathaniel PARKER, born 1730 in Hampshire County, Virginia, died in 1803 in Sumner County Tennessee. Nathaniel married Ann CLAYTON.
RECOMMEND LEAVING THE 1ST SENTENCE AND DELETING THE LAST SENTENCE:
Nathaniel married Ann Clayton.

BIRTH / DEATH DATES FOR THE CHILDREN OF NATHANIEL PARKER AND ELIZABETH SCOTT:

1. Susannah (Parker) Beeler: Born about 1764 Hampshire County, VA., died before 1804 Jefferson County, KY.
2. John Parker, born abt. 1765 Hampshire County, VA.; died before June 1833 Shelby County, KY. when his will was probated.
3. Elizabeth (Parker) Collier, born abt. 1766 (assumes 20 when 1st child born) Hampshire County, VA.; died aft. 1726 Shelby County, KY. (CURRENT PROFILE SAYS BORN CIRCA 1740)
4. Thomas Parker born 29 February 1768 Hampshire County, VA.; died 8 August 1846 Hadensville, Todd County, KY. with burial in the Hibbett Cemetery, Sumner County, TN. (FRANCIS AND PAMELIA A. (PARKER) FAMILY BIBLE PROVIDES THE ABOVE DATES)
5. Richard Parker born 20 September 1770 Hampshire County, VA.; died 9 February 1838 Sumner County, TN. (NO KNOWN CEMETERY LOCATION) (OPHELIA PARKER FAMILY BIBLE PROVIDES THE ABOVE DATES)
6. Nathaniel P. Parker born 17 March 1775 Hampshire County, VA.; died 15 January 1857 Sumner County, TN. (TOMBSTONE SAYS 1858, BUT ESTATE WAS INVENTORIED 12 & 13 FEBRUARY 1857) with burial in the Bethpage Cemetery, Sumner County, TN.

8. Mary ‘Polly’ Parker born abt. 1779 Hampshire County, VA.; died before 1830 Davidson County, TN. (CURRENT PROFILE SAYS ESTIMATED BORN BETWEEN 1745 AND 1797, 1st CHILD WAS BORN ABT.1805 AND 1820 CENSUS SHOWS SHE WAS BORN BETWEEN 1776 & 1794. ALLOWING FOR BIRTH OF ABOVE CHILDREN, THEN abt. 1779 IS REASONABLE.)
9. Aaron Parker born abt. 1781Hampshire County, VA; died 1804 Sumner County, TN. (nuncupative will probated March 1805 Sumner County, TN.) (NO KNOWN CEMETERY LOCATION) (CURRENT PROFILE SAYS ESTIMATED BORN BETWEEN 1745 AND 1797; BIRTH AGE ESTIMATE BASED UPON ASSUMPTION HE WAS 21 WHEN HIS FATHER TRANSFERRED LAND / SLAVE TO HIM IN JULY 1803 SUMNER COUNTY, TN.

AND ON THE PROFILE FOR NATHANIEL PARKER BORN 1775 / DIED 1857 PLEASE ADD THE FOLLOWING OVERVIEW TEXT:
Some family files suggest that Nathaniel Parker and Sally Ramsey had a son named Woodson Daniel Parker. Woodson Daniel Parker per the1860 York Township, Putnam, Missouri census was age 63 and born in Tennessee. Findagrave shows he was born 8 Sep 1796 and died 16 Jul 1861 and buried in Powersville, Wayne County, Iowa. His wife Abigal Mitchell is buried beside him. He married Abigal Mitchell on 14 Feb 1817 in Jackson, Indiana. At least two commenters on Parker Heritage suggest Woodson Daniel Parker was the son of James Parker who married Charlotte Daniel and who's mentioned as the son-in-law of Woodson Daniel (1736-1791) who died in Wake County, N.C. Woodson Daniel was the son of James Daniel Jr. and Elizabeth Woodson- hence the name Woodson Daniel. Woodson Daniel Parker as a son of Nathaniel Parker and Sally Ramsey is still unproven and seems suspect!

THESE CHANGES WILL CLEAN UP MULTIPLE ISSUES.
THANKS

I'm developing the text overview for Ann Parker & Nathaniel Parker of Gloucester County

Children currently associated but unproven are:

01 Moses Parker born 1744.
02 Daniel Parker born 1750
03 Elder John Parker born 1758,
04 Susannah Parker born 1762-64; died 1816 Estill County, KY.; married John Haughettee, Estill County, KY.
05 Francis Parker ????

So I'll disconnect the extra children currently showing and list them in the next post

Erica:
-------------------------------------------------
Aaron Parker is somehow related to Elder John Parker (1758-1836). He was listed as an Assignee of the Elder John Parker in an 1807 Dickson County, TN. land indenture listed below. A lot of trees have him born 1770 in VA. and dying 1833 in Mississippi, having moved from Dickson County, TN. before 1814.

And Aaron PARKER, Daniel Sr, Jr, Ruth, Sary Sr, Jr, Nancy, Moses, 1806 Dickson Co TN Baptist Church. other names John and Hannah PARKER.
See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Parker_(Baptist)

See: http://www.oldspencermill.com/history.html

Dickson County, TN. Deed Book C, page 436 "Deed from State of Tennessee to Aaron Parker, Assignee of John Parker. No. 2865. By virtue of part of Certificate No. 307, dated the 20th day of August 1807, obtained by John Parker, and entered on the 28th day of August 1807, by No. 180, we have granted to Aaron Parker, assignee of John Parker, a tract of land containing 39 acres, and lying on the waters of Parker’s fork of Turnbull Creek. Surveyed the 24th day of September 1808 by John Davis, including his improvement nearly in the center.
---------------------------------------------------------
I never found much info on Elizabeth Parker born 1744 Bedford, VA.; died ____; married ____. I suspect she got into this profile because an Elizabeth is referenced in the will of Nathaniel Parker (1724-1811) of Sumner County, TN.

--------------------------------------------------------'
Most trees suggested this Robert Parker born 1754 Gates Cty., NC.; died 1825 Copiah Cty., MS.; married 1769 Prisilla Riddick in Gates Cty., NC. as a son of Nathaniel Parker but remains unproven without documentation.
----------------------------------------------------------
Isaac Parker seen variously as born (1754, 1755, 1760, 1766, 1768 or 1770) Baltimore Cty., MD; died 1803 Sumner Cty., TN. . It should be noted there is no 1803 Sumner County, TN. will for an Isaac Parker. And 1803 matches the alleged death date for Nathaniel Parker (1724-1811) found in Jay Guy Cisco's 1909 book Historic Sumner County, TN.. I want to say I remember some account of the John Parker clan in Texas having an Uncle Isaac, but I can't find the reference.
------------------------------------------------------------
Thomas Parker looks to be a merger of my ancestor Thomas Parker (1768-1846) of Parker yDNA family group #18 and the Thomas Parker who married Judith 'Juda' Renfro. He belongs to Parker yDNA Family Group #15 and his will extract says:

1810 May 8th WILL [Compiled by Edythe Rucker Whitley, Sumner County, Tennessee Abstracts of Will Books 1 and 2 (1788-1842), (Nashville, Tennessee 1956, Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc. Baltimore 1978, -Will Book 1), pg 16 Thomas PARKER – May 8, 1810 – Wife Judah PARKER. My sons, Grandson, and Coleman. My daughter Milly, My daughter Chloe. My daughter Rhoda. My daughter Anney. Wife and Larkin Jackson executors. Wit: Thomas Donoho, John Jones, Goleman Donoho. (p. 154)

Assuming Geni already has a profile for both Thomas Parker's then this one should be deleted.
---------------------------------------------------------
Richard Parker I variously found listed as Richard Parker born (1753 Nansemond, VA.; 1754; 1757-1759 Culpeper Cty., VA.; 1759-1762 Baltimore Cty., MD.; 1762 Bedford Cty. VA. ); Richard Parker born 1753 Nansemond, VA died 1780 Charleston, S.C.; Richard Parker born 1759 in Culpeper Cty. VA. died 1797 in Edgecombe, NC ; Richard Parker born 1759-1762 died Sumner Cty., TN. 1831.

Since his wife is listed as Nancy Parker and he died in 1838, I suspect he's a duplicate for the Richard Parker born 1770, died 1838 Sumner, TN. who did marry Nancy Rogers and can be deleted. If not deleted then the profile should state Probable duplicate to https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Richard_Parker_%2835%29
--------------------------------------------------

I found this Mary Parker variously stated to have been born (1754 or 31 Oct. 1773 (Montgomery NC; ) married ?

Suspect she also is a duplicate of Nathaniel Parker (1724-1811) daughter Mary Parker who married William Thompson in 1800 Sumner County, TN. Mary Thompson is listed in Nathaniel Parker (1724-1811) Sumner, TN will.

Hope the above helps!
