This is very much speculative and anecdotal, but interesting nonetheless. There's a new article from the BBC about a Himalayan village called Malana, where tradition has it that the people descend from Alexander the Great. Hey, who knows. :)

No such luck for me, James Cuming Alexander! I have no path to him, and since he only has two descendants listed, I'm definitely not one of them. It's possible that connections were cut based on better information since you last viewed his profile.
Graciela, that's so strange! I read it in their weekly newsletter and that version is about Alexander, but you're right, this web version (which I assumed was the same) is about his army. They must have edited the article, but now I'm not sure which version is correct! Good catch...I'll send the writer a tweet and see what they have to say. How odd.
Alexander built more than 70 cities named Alexandria on his Asian conquests, and settled thousands of veterans there. The furthest east that we know of was Alexandria Eschatehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandria_Eschate in Tajikistan
Isn't that the point about the 'Genghis Khan' Y DNA spread? No way to know it was him, but it was certainly someone in his army (including possibly him) because the area of distribution matches exactly with his campaigns?
How would they tell it was Alexander the Great specifically, without testing his body?
