Hi Erica, I have both Potter and Gedney families in my database. Due to the multiple marriages of both , I think I may have messed up my database. I have done a lot of deeper research into the Gedney family. as Mary Gedney is shown as the last /
3rd wife of Nicholas Potter. She was the daughter of John Gedney

I have also checked Savage's Dictionary of Early Settler's of New England for POTTER and GEDNEY FAMILIES as well as immigrant Passenger lists for both.

How many wives did Nicholas have?
I have Sarah with whom he registered for passage to New England on the ship MARY ANN from Great Yarmouth, England on 11 Nov 1637. with wife and Daughters Lydia and Hannah. Both of whom had been Christened in the Parish of St Peter, Permontergate,. The Records show the name of his wife and of the mother of his girls as Sarah Also Sarah shown in Custom House records. I am questioning the referrals to her name Mary, which has caused me confusion., Mary Gedney has been shown in a number of websites as the 3rd wife of NICHOLAS POTTER, and the mother of 12 children born in New England. Their first 2 in Lynn and the rest born in Salem..
Another Website shows a marriage to Eme CARTER or KNIGHT? at Newport-Pagnel on 22 April 1628. They had 3 children: Robert bapt 9 Feb 1629; , Samuel bapt 26 Dec 1632, buried 4 Feb 1632/3; and Elizabeth bapt 8 April 1634 ..
Eme died, after which Nicholas married Alice (Plasse) widow of Thomas Weeks/ Wickes. She died at Salem 26 Jan 1658. No children of this union,
Nicholas married 3rd to MARY GEDNEY daughter of John and Sarah (unknown) Gedney, after the 1658 death of Alice and the birth of their 1st child born NOVEMBER 1659.
