@Eliza Mills-Day-Hays (Redman)

I contacted the managers of this profile 4/15/19 as shown below. No one responded and it's still sitting in my Notifications. I don't know why the notification came to me, but Geni needs to be able recognize this person as separate from the one it sees as a conflict. It's not a duplicate, there's nothing to merge, there is no data conflict to resolve. It's just two different people.

Managers of Eliza Ainsworth,

I am contacting you about this profile: Eliza Mills-Day-Hays (Redman)

I got notification of conflicting data on this but it's actually two different people. It "looks like" it's trying to merge Elizabeth Redmond with Eliza Hays. Part of the problem is the daughter who married a Redmond/Remand should be Ailsey (Elsie) Canzada Ainsworth c. 1810 and not Elizabeth or Eliza at all.

If that change is made, it should hopefully resolve the conflict.

Sincerely,

Debbie Gambrell

I have undone the merge which resulted in the data conflict you were notified of, but there are side effects that need to be fixed now.

I can work with you to make the fixes or just go ahead and fix what needs to be fixed and let us know if you need a curator for any of the fixes.

There may not be any side effects actually. I have replaced the display names because they were hiding the maiden names of the two sisters and confusing people.

The Overview on Eliza Mills-Day-Hays (Redman) is confusing. It would be best if a knowledgeable manager edited it. The second half refers to her with the surname of Redmond.

Hatte, I just checked and there doesn't seem to be any side effect, and the Notification that has been there all this time is now gone. So looks like what you did fixed it. Thanks again.

Debbie

Elizabeth (Eliza) Redmond is my 3rd great grandmother. She married William Day. Her mother is Nancy Ramsey and her daughter Drucilla married Hickerson Barksdale. Her father is Jeremiah W, Redmond. She is till confused with Eliza Hayes. Please can someone fix this? I want to get all of Eliza Ainsworth's family out of my tree!

I was just looking up info on my ancestor Sarah Sasah Finch and someone has gone into her profile and changed her to Nancy Ramsey and changed her husband Thomas Ainsworth to Jeremiah Redman. I know the profile info was changed rather than a new profile, because I Googled them and when I click on the Geni links that come up for Thomas and Sarah, they go to this Jeremiah and Nancy. Thomas and Sarah are the parents of Ailsey (Elsie) Canzada Redman , Martha AInsworth Windham, and Eliza Ainsworth Hays. So in trying to make the changes I'm reading about above, it is all totally messed up now.

It seems someone has been confusing Elizabeth Eliza Redmond Day with Eliza Ainsworth Redman/Redmond, two totally different people. And now they've made the Ainsworth descendants all Redman descendants. This needs to be sorted out.

@ Martha M. WIndham (Ainsworth) and her siblings should be the children of Thomas "Phillemahay" Ainsworth and Sarah Sasah Finch whose profiles have been changed to Jerermiah Redman and Nancy Ramsey, which is totally wrong. Ailsey (Elsie Canzada Ainsworth married a Redman but the Ainsworths themselves are not Redman descendants as presently connected. I don't know why someone hijacked Thomas and Sarah's profiles. I had started a discussion earlier before discovering this one, asking that once the correction is made perhaps their profiles should be locked so this kind of thing can't happen with these lines again.

@Thomas Phillemahaya Ainsworth, Choctaw Trader - if you read the profile About notes, you'll see they're the notes I myself put in for the Profile of Thomas P. Ainsworth who someone has changed to this Jeremiah. I see other managers listed as Margaret Fleming, Joseph Ainsworth, Timothy Allen Kinney and Laurie Ann Dyer. Perhaps one of them knows something about how all this got changed. ?

All of the changes are due to both Debbie Gambrell and Bobby Joyce Ferguson not understanding the side effects of the unmerge that was done by Hatte Blejer

Deborah, look at the revision history of the profiles that have changed. You can see in the revision history that Bobby changed the information on the ones that I inspected.

Best thing to do here is stop making any changes. Let someone like Hatte assist with the fallout and get both tree branches sorted out.

Paging Anne Brannen since I see her mark on profiles in this area as well.

thanks, Jonathan Scott Krengel, but as far as I can tell, looking at these profiles and their revisions, and the tree they're in, I was probably doing what looked to me like regular clean up, and won't be of much other help.

Though if I did anything to make things more confusing I certainly apologies.

Oddly, though, I DO have lots of Ainsworth profiles, and LOTS of Spartanburg profiles, but none of them are these.

I didn't know how to get the Ainsworth people out of my tree so I was trying to delete them. I am in a dna circle on ancestry with Eliza Redman and her father Jeramiah Redman and her mother Nancy Ramsy. Eliza Ainsworth is not in my tree.

I beg to differ, I didn't make any changes. If you read what I first wrote back in April - "I got notification of conflicting data on this but it's actually two different people. It "looks like" it's trying to merge Elizabeth Redmond with Eliza Hays. Part of the problem is the daughter who married a Redmond/Remand should be Ailsey (Elsie) Canzada Ainsworth c. 1810 and not Elizabeth or Eliza at all." and that's what Hattie fixed. I didn't ask about Elizabeth (Eliza) Redmond iwho married William Day and wouldn't have had any reason to check on anything about the Redmond/Day line since that wasn't what I needed help sorting out.

I didn't make any of the changes that are not showing as far as changing any Ainsworth connections and making them children of Redman. I haven't touched any of this since Hattie fixed the issue I got a notice about back in April. This other stuff that has been changed is more recent and was a surprise to me.

Someone deliberatey went into the profiles of THomas Ainsworth and Sarah Finch and changed the names to Jeremiah Redman and Nancy Ramsey, that's very clear because all the profile notes are still for Ainsworth and Finch. Then they connected those profiles to the parents of those people and effectively did away with Thomas and Sarah and their connections. That's what has created the mess we now see.

typo - second paragraph should be "now showing" instead of "not showing"

Whoever did these recent changes hasn't just confused things but totally disconnected long-standing Ainsworth lines and messed with the profiles and mixed it all up with the Redmans, which seems to have been the cause of Bobby Joyce Ferguson attempting to correct it.

The thing is, there are obviously two Eliza Redmans, one was born an Ainsworth, one was born a Redman and married a Day. I have no idea how they got in the same tree. It doesn't matter at this point who did what to make it all such a mess. Instead of all of us going in and trying to make fixes and maybe making it even worse, a curator needs to take charge and sort it out and lock the profiles so this can't happen again.

Also, part of the problem in looking back at the posts from April is that if you click those links now, they don't show what they showed back then. They show what they are now with all the recent changes someone made that messed it all up.

But if you read, I was only asking Hattie to sort it out that Ailsey (Elsie) Canzada Ainsworth Redman was NOT the same person as the Elizabeth / Eliza she had been merged to as wife of Hays / Day. That unmerge fixed the problem connecting the Ainsworths incorrectly that way.

I checked it after Hattie made that unmerge and the Ainsworth line was correct. There was nothing wrong with that unmerge and the line had remained correct until whatever was just recently done that mixed these lines up so terribly bad. Everything we're seeing now is a whole other situation.

Hatte Blejer -- if you want me in on this let me know -- it looks like in this situation, after things get unmerged, there's a call for locking things down.

Bobby Joyce Ferguson, when things get this messed it up, it's always best to ask a curator for assistance to sort it out rather than to try to fix it ourselves and make things worse.

I would love for you to sort this out, I'm used to ancestry and we can make corrections in our trees and it doesn't affect anyone else. So I'm sorry for the mess up. It's frustrating having all of these people in my tree when they don't belong.

We need a curator to help with this and so far no one has offered to work it out.

Hatte offered to help, up above at the beginning of the thread.

But if she is busy I can look at this.

Hello all. I am busy. I'll be free starting June 12, but the next week is very busy.

I do look at Geni mail frequently, so you'll get my attention faster that way.

I hope Anne can assist here. I think between this discussion and the Revisions, it will be clear. But reach out via Geni mail if not.

By the way, I'm a descendant of the Ainsworth family that lived in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania in the early - mid 1700s. Later, some of my relatives were in Franklin, Warren County, Ohio. But none in Alabama that I know :)

I can help. It looks like I merged two people of the same name who are different people.

Looking into the parents of the descendants of Thomas Ainsworth and Sarah Finch who are thought to not be the children of Jeremiah W. Redman and Nancy Ramsey.

Who are the correct parents? Jeremiah W. Redman and Nancy Ramsey may have to be disconnected an go back to the Cansada similar named line that goes to the Bond family.

Here is what it states about her first of 3 marriages on her Overview Section: Eliza claims in the 1860 census to have been born in Louisiana, and is counted in St Helena Parish with her's and William Day's children, and her children with her 3rd husband, Parker Hays, my 2xs great grandfather. They were Robert(my great grandfather) and Palmyra Hays. Her Day children were, William, John, Drucilla, Thomas, Laura and Mary Cansada. She married first to Benjamin Mills ar 16 yrs. In E Feliciana, LA, then moved to Amite ,MS and Benjamin must have died. A marriage record was found in 1835 for Eliza Mills and William Day. They moved to Greensberg in St Helena Parish and lived there when William died around 1851. She married Parker Hays in 1852. Cant find neither Eliza or daughter here after the 1870 census where she is counted with her daughters, Laura Day Draughan and Alvira (Palmyra)Hays. Robert W.was in Pike county MS in 1870 with his wife Isabel "Belle" Vaughn. In 1871 Elizabeth Hays was born.

Per your Finch request to be a parent, there was only one current choice of Finch as parent that is available in the edit tab and then go and click Relationships and then see the drop down menu of choices. If that is not your correct requested Finch parent, you would have to Add Family and click the disconnect box of the parents that are incorrect. In the Overview, it is helpful if you put the sources there also.

The parents of those Ainsworth children were correctly connected as Thomas P. Ainsworth and Sarah Sasah Finch. Instead of making new profiles for Jeremiah and his wife, the person making changes changed the profile names in Thomas and Sarah's profiles. If you look at the notes in About on each, they don't match the people in the profiles after that change.

If someone can just get the Thomas and Sarah Finch Ainsworth back into their profiles and disconnect them from the Redman line, I "think" I can fix the Ainsworth and Finch lines from there.

Thomas' father is believed to be Levin Ainsworth and that's how it had been previously connected, based on Sampson Ainsworth's connections in the mix. There are more details in the About section on this Ainsworth family in the About section on Jeremiah Redman because that was not Jeremiah's profile page until some made the recent changes. Thomas' mother was listed as Cherokee Woman, and this is based on information from gale Torregrossa some time back. This line of Ainsworths doesn't connect going way back to any other known Ainsworth lines, just back to Levin Ainsworth, if I recall correctly.

Previously some folks had made John Emilius Daniel Edward Finch-Hatton the father of Sarah, but this has been proven wrong and had been disconnected and Edward Finch and Martha Ballard were connected as her parents. I can't find their profiles though, it seems they've been deleted as there were no ancestors beyond them.

I have just gotten online in the past hour and haven't had time to look at much yet.

Thanks to everyone who is helping correct these lines.

Wouldn't the simple thing to do for the Ainsworth / Finch lines would be to change the profile info back to Thomas and Sarah as they were before someone changed the profile info, disconnect those from the Redman connection and let me fix the Ainsworth / Finch lines and those from the Redman lines then work on their correct connections?
