Was reading the About info on Vincent. It states that his family descends from Mathew fitz Herbert, Magna Carta witness, & his son, Mathew. But, Mathew, the elder, only had a son named Herbert fitz Mathew (no issue).
So was "jogging" around the Internet trying to reconcile this line. There is a Sir Piers fitz Herbert, Baron & Sheriff of Yorkshire, who was a Magna Carta witness. (Ca 1163, Powis, Wales - June 1, 1235, Berkshire, Eng). He m. 3 times, but he didn't have a son named Matthew. He did, however, have a brother Matthew (ca 1166-1231), ...this is the same Matthew mentioned above, both sons of Herbert fitz Herbert & Lucy fitz Miles.
The question then is the Peter fitz Herbert, ancestor of Vincent, the same as Sir Piers fitz Herbert? And, if so, then Vincent's line shouldbe corrected, which might help with the dates.
The profile for Peter fitz Herbert (b. Est. betw. 1198-1258) shows that he m. Alice fitz Roger. But, the profile for Sir Piers shows that his 1st wife was Alice fitz Robert, daughter of Robert fitz Roger. Are these 2 women the same?
