So what's the likelyhood of this linage being truefull and accurate? Do you all tell your pastors King David of Israel is your grandfather?

It's very unlikely the lineage is truthful. It seems that Geni doesn't really have a filter and anyone can add a branch to this tree. You can see this discrepancy, when lineage is added by people of the Muslim faith, that have their own idea of who came out of the biblical characters. Many of them are Islamic figures that are known to the Islamic faith, and have not been heard by Christians or Jews.

There was a lineage account from David to a Jewish family which was destroyed 4-500 hundred years ago. So its unlikely that there is actual information about the lineage at this point.

King David is listed as my 40th great grandfather. Far more important to me than my geneology tree which most likely is not accurate that far back, i have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior (John 3:16)

Amen

Hi Michael, King David is traced in the Book of Kings of the Bible. Because he was a soverign king, he would have had ministers tracking his lineage in order to keep the lineage royal. Eventually, historians kept the records and may have added descendants to the lineage. Now the genealogists, and most likely the genealogists of geni.com, keep the records. They have monitored my lineage.

this man my ggf .. hopefully its true .. it would be so hard to actually trace your self back to him.. so until it can be proved one way or another I am ok with Geni telling me hes my g g f ....

Eric Manuel

In order to be a descendent of King David, you must be around 100 generations away, impossible for only 40 generations,

There are no direct descents from King David traceable to
today: https://www.geni.com/projects/Testing-for-Fake-Medieval-and-Ancient... Anything showing a line has a fake link in it somewhere.

My path to King David shows that he is my 98th great grandfather....so I am a little more hopeful for it to be true. I will bet that since this discussion has been started for everyone to view, all the limbs will get severed off....that seems to be the norm....

Sorry....my 99th great grandfather...

Because many people want to show a "connection" to King David, and have mixed false family trees on the way to him, some of the names are not true
But there are indeed true descendants of him, who are descendants of rabbinic families and dynasties, and know generation after generation how they are descended
In Judaism, there are several ways to be a descendent of King David, as to other religions, I do not understand

I wish Geni would finally make arrangements for King David, remove fake names on his way, erase profiles of people who fake contact with him, and lock the profiles of the kings of Israel in order to make it harder for people to fake more
I, as a true descendant of him (from several different branches), would welcome such a move
If you knew how many people had forged their family tree by my family tree and presented themselves as "my cousins," you would have understood me well

sick and tired of geni making up bullshit lineages

What a shame to here. I have an early America family, church. They locked their profile saying it was forged further back and won't allow me to go any further in the past. But then forgery on King David is allowed?

When you find a mistake, fix it or let the managers know. Otherwise, just enjoy what Geni has to offer.

Randy Schoenberg
I have written to you about who forged, but nothing was done to him, on the contrary, they put him management of many of my grandfathers, so I can not add them to projects,
And he even sent me a message: "I have blue blood"
If you were me, would not you get mad?
You know who I am and to whom I am a direct descendant, he forged a family tree, and now he is sworn in

I apologize for my bad English, I hope I've been able to explain myself well,

Haim. Imagine you are not you, but me or someone else. What exactly could you do with the message you just wrote? Answer: nothing. If you find a mistake, identify the mistake.

Randy Schoenberg

I am a direct descendant of the kozker rebbe, He always spoke the truth and hated falsehood, this is the education he gave to his children, and they are to their children, and that is the education that my parents gave me
I know you and your wish that things be true and accurate.
The same person changes the general tree of geni while faking, why can not geni remove his profile? True, he can return under another identity, but In such a process gani conveys a message that she will not let the counterfeiters act through her. Now it's the opposite, that's a message that can be forged
I assure you that if you conduct a survey among the people active in geni most people will support a determined position of geni against counterfeiters

Hello everybody, I myself am a big fan of Geni and I do add a lot of persons I do only find in official documents and yes, King David also is listed on Geni as one of my own great-great-grandfathers:

King David of Israel is your 102nd great grandfather.

But, then again, there is also a lineage of Mickey Mousse, Donald Duck and ... hey, a real lineage of children Jesus suppose to have had with Maria Magdalena (Mary of Magdala). No way !!! Some guys and girls are really kidding on Geni. I do not trust a thing from those fantasy lineages ! I added my own family tree which I did create with self found information I did find in the official old paper archives in our city halls everywhere around in the Netherlands, I checked everything over and over again.... and what do people on Geni do with it ? They add brothers to my forefathers which did never ever exist, just because they want to descend of a certain very famous/Royal family (???). If I tell them these brothers really are not mentioned at all in the official old documents and wills (testament) of the parents, the real known brothers and the real known sisters, people just ignore me. Well, I hope they are very happy with their self created lineage, but I only want the truth and nothing but the truth and otherwise it is no fun to me. Yes, I also believe in Jesus (Yeshua) and in the G-d of Israel, but I really believe that it is not possible to go all the way to King David (which is sure more than 40 generations back ! Even Charlemagne,/ Charles the Great is already 38 generations away from me and he lived in 700+) without little mistakes in the lineage here and there. Specially females were many times unknown and many times there was only one first name written down, which was easy confused with another man or woman out of a total different family having the same first name. According to Geni I am also descending of the Prophet Isaiah through a daughter, but when I google for the children of Isaiah, there are only three sons known. If there were daughters, they were not that important and not written down, so unknown to us. Also people say that Boaz (husband of Ruth), was the brother of Elimelech. Well, the Bible says he was a far relative and there was a man who was nearer related to Naomi and Ruth, nearer to them than Boaz (?) how near can a brother of the husband of Naomi be ? Is there something nearer ? I don't think so, So I think he must have been a cousin or uncle or such (?), not the brother of Elimelech. So, there are many question marks with many lineages on Geni, that far back. So, I am very sorry to be the one who is perhaps killing your dream to descent of King David (would be great ofcourse ). Anyway, you do not have to be descending from King David to be special, He loves you anyway ! ;) (all of us !).

And, please forgive me if people think I am atacking Geni here, that is not my intension, it is to much fun ! But, there is still so much of work to do .... :( I do really respect everybody who is doing good serious research. Please you all, keep up the good work ! :) All of you, greetings from Holland.

Sorry for my long story :(

Colleen Dorothy, I love your answer :)

Private User , according to geni, you are my 17th cousin, 4x removed.

I have participated in many discussions pertaining to historic, ancient profiles. Most of them are supposed to be a "so many" great grandparent....so as this one. I have a ton of dna matches from the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway. I show a small percentage of Jew. I also show from tests run thru gedcom as "Red Sea". Not sure what pinpoint that would be.

Oh, and another test shows Baloch.

I would love to be your cousin Diana :) , but I sadly have to tell you I am not, because there is a fake person in my family tree which I did not add. This is what I mean. I am 100% sure that fellow never existed, but the person who did add him just does not react to me telling him so. And nobody is correcting it, and I told many people already. Through him I (and with me others) would descend of a well known Aristocratic Dutch family, but I don't .... at least, not through this fake fellow. Others did add him there so their lineage goes straight to this aristocratic family. I know this fellow is fake, since these people I desend from were very rich shoemakers and house owners, but they did descend of aristocracy. Their great grandchildren became Mayors of big cities and married very important Dutch people who did descent of Dutch aristocracy and Dutch sea heroes, but themselves, no, they did work themselves to the top (in around 1727). I understand Haim HaCohen exactly, this is what people do sometime on Geni and it is very irritating. Now everytime I have to check if people are really related to me or not. When that fake fellow is in the middle, they are sadly not. :(

Send me the link and I'll try and investigate, Recia.

Oh, I made a typing mistake, I meant this rich shoemaker family did NOT descend of this Dutch aristocratic family (I forgot the word not, sorry I am tired at the moment).

Thank you Sharon, I will :)

Private User According to Geni you´re my 19th cousin five times removed, i think like almost the other ones who posted something here.
But let´s go on, Hephzi-bah, claimed to be Elyahu´s HaNavi (Isaiah) daugther, has her fatherhood traced on Talmud (the Oral Law of the Jews), and probably it´s correct.
If you are descent to her, probably you are descendent from the Bulgarian/Armenian aristocracy, which were described by Moses of Chorene. His writtings are being studied at least by 2 centuries or more and the latest scholars claims that are true (I read some of the commentaries about his work), the probability to be false is little at this time.
The biggest problem here it´s what you said, those people who forges and does uncorrect connections to deface a branch.
BUT mostly of those who have european descendancy have a strong chance to be related to one another, which mixes with Middle East and North Africa during the various centuries coming to our time, like me for example, I descent from Portuguese/Spanish kings, but back on time, I am also descendant from Swedish, German, British, Persian, Roman, and those who were the first to land here in Brazil, even before the Portuguese official fleet (like João Ramalho and Cosme Fernandes Pessoa), how they arrived here is yet a mistery to our history (lol), but they married with tribal chiefs´ (caciques) daughters, and no less, I have also indigenous blood. It´s a huge mixing through the millenia, so, even further you go, it´s more difficult to know from whom you´re not descendant than the opposite, BUT (there is always a but), there was a time that the cosanguinous marriage were normal, so this reduces a lot the numbers of the ancestors (if occurred through many generations), like 1th cousins marriage, begins with math, go through statistics and stops near quantic physics (lol).
Have a good weekend and sorry for my poor English.
