I can't find any evidence for the parents of Tristram Thomas, except for unsourced family web trees. The ones that are attached at the moment I can't find AT ALL, as in I can't see that they actually existed.

The story is that the family was originally from Wales, and descended from Rhys ap Thomas -- that would be Sir Rhys ap Thomas, K.G., of Dynevor -- and the line keeps getting put in, but there is no evidence, as far as I can tell, and children Rhys didn't have (though admittedly he had LOTS) keep getting added.

My own belief here is that we need to disconnect parents, and add in notes as to the issues and lock it down.

But!

Maybe actual evidence exists! That would be great. Has anybody seen it?

Having heard nothing so far, am disconnecting and locking down; will also add notes.

Should any real evidence appear, we can add parents on.

Thanks, but in both cases the evidence is coming not from primary documents or secondary studies, but family trees. Even the book.

I agree... was just confirming the same "Tristram" all I find are publishing or other family tree information rather than an actual document.

I am no longer on ancestry, but I found a link through them on the parish records. I just cannot open it without reinstating my membership.

The record for Maredudd Thomas I’m not sure how to connect. The record for Elizabeth Thomas is for a child who died in 1624.

I have also found him listed as "Reverend James Tristram Thomas"

By no means are these reliable sources, It's just enough to throw into the mix to add more confusion.

Why didn't you just lock it down and note that there was no concrete evidence of his parents??

He listed wife has no name yet she has "Parents" how does that seem right??

By disconnecting his parents we can't even search them to see if we can get to their children.

I would usually lock it down, detach the parents, and give s note leading to the supposed parents.

I’m this case, since I had seen alternate pairs of parents, it didn’t make sense to me to do that.

Also, as I wrote sbove, I hadn’t been able to find evidence that the supposed parents even existed.

My apologies, I have had a nutty summer and completely forgot about Tristram Thomas.... I will add him back to the top of my research list. Maybe he just appeared out of the blue... (not funny), but determined to help solve this mystery.
