Hi Minnie. I am the GGGranddaughter of Mary Amelia Freelander/Ramos/Morgan/Lock. You have listed Samuel Freelander as her father but I’m yet to find proof of that. You’ve also listed John Thompson as her first husband but I’m yet to find proof of that either. The only proof we have is the two marriages - first to Joseph Ramos later Morgan and Charles William Leslie Lock.

Mary Amelia Ramos - Morgan - Locke died aged 80 in 1916 so born c1836 (see her timeline for details)
The woman in the documentation was 27 in 1881 so born c1854

ill fix that i just have to find my folder Manuel Joseph Ramos scan and upload their documents except for the Asylum report as its an inappropriate report to have public

Thanks Jeanette I have all the documents. Yes she listed John Thompson as the father of John William but there’s no proof she married him and when she married Joseph Ramos she was a spinster. Leanne it is the same woman dates on her death certificate are likely incorrect as could be her age when admitted into the benevolent society. If you’d like any more information let me know.

Thanks Jeanette I would be very interested to see the transcript of Amelia birth because no where did she ever record him as her father and in actual fact Samuel left his will to his ONLY daughter Eliza Friedlander.

Why I think we have two different woman confused - Mary Ann MORGAN and Amelia FREEMAN

* Her first child was born 2 years in 1862 before Mary Ann MORGAN was born in 1864 (age 27 in 1891)
* her surname in 1891 was LOCKE not MORGAN (she married LOCKE in 1881)
* she died in 1916 age 80 as LOCKE

Are you asking me to change the name on William Leslie Locke to Charles William Leslie LOCKE?

if so, these appear to be 2 different men - brothers

If you look at their timelines, there are records attached to them - with the 2 different names - William LOCKE as William, Charles as Charles.

Leanne in all due respect much of the information you have here of MY family is incorrect but only caused by the confusion of two Amelia Freelanders. I have the research and mountains of evidence to back it up so please respect what I know. You invited others to add to the information but that’s impossible since much of it is incorrect. My GGGrandmother married Charles Lock not William and my GGrandmother married John Thomas Sheard.

There are 2 issues that are confusing

Issue 1) Amelia FREELANDER (mother) vs Amelia MORGAN (daughter) vs Mary MORGAN
It isn't the 2 Amelia's that are being confused - it is Amelia the mother and someone called Mary MORGAN who I can't work out where she fits in (her records are under documents on Amelia mother profile

* Not on Geni - Mary MORGAN age 27 mother of William MORGAN born 1891

Issue 2
Amelia (mother) married Charles LOCK

POSSIBLE ASSISTANCE
I think the issue is made more difficult in that you are not currently connected to this tree - if you add your direct ancestors up to where they join your GGGrandmother Amelia, I can merge the trees and then you could easily see the exact relationship Geni has between yourself and the profiles and tell us if something is connected incorrectly.

Ok issue 1

Try to forget about the Morgan for a moment. Mary Amelia Jane Freelander b around 1837 according to her death certificate. According to benevolent records it’s 1843. She married Charles William Leslie Lock not his brother William Lock. So if you have Mary Amelia Freelander married William it’s incorrect.

This Amelia had William John in 1866 his surname was Freelander but later Morgan. then a daughter with the same name born in 1869. Minnie Morgan is not on her birth certificate. Later she became Morgan too.

There is no Mary Ann Morgan. I’m not sure how that came about. Amelia Senior married Joseph Ramos in 1872 who later changed his name to Morgan along with all the children then she married Charles in 1881. Hope that makes sense.

I don’t need to match my tree with yours to see the relationship.

Had a quick look at the benevolent document. I don’t have this one. Not any of my relatives. To my knowledge we don’t have a Mary Ann Morgan in our family. We only have two Mary Amelia’s and unless Mary Amelia junior (Minnie) was admitted in another name neither of them had a child in the benevolent in 1891.

Amelia Senior had William in 1866 aged 23 at the benevolent society but that’s it. I have this one.
