My 7x’s Grandfather was a George Farrar and my 7x’s Grandmother was Judith Jefferson Farrar.
My Grandmother was Willie Bell Farrar. Her Father was Lewis Shipp Farrar. Her mother was Melinda Caroline Rowe.
Her Grandfather was Daniel Farrar Her Grandmother was Nancy Caroline Shipp.
I’m happy to find out Cecily’s maiden name. I new her married names.
My Name is Susan Vega in Miami. vegasusan@ymail.com.

Although I have yet to prove my descent from her, I did read about her and was quite impressed. She must have been extremely intelligent, gracious, poised, and beautiful, to have been so loved and respected in her community.

Debra, Wow, Thank you for sharing this source. I really like when we find information on our women - they need to be highlighted. Now I have something to work from and additional sources.

She's my 12th GGM too, the lines look pretty good- I know my Trigg/ Tanner lineage well.

Recognized the Denman surname from my Nixon Heritage :)

Allied families, I bet we're related in many different ways, not discovered.

Be aware that “the first flirt in America’s” Maiden Name is not proven.

Ancient Planter in her own right before the age of 24, if I remember right!

my goodness, I Have a photograph of a Judge Leroy Gilbert Denman, son of Henrietta Andrews Wood Denman - he was the brother of my 2nd great-grandmother Laura Ann Wood Nixon- she was married to Robert Thomas Nixon small world

Hello, Erica Howton . The Farrar pedigree and family history has her as the daughter of William Kelk of Barnaby, Lincolnshire, England. I wonder why that detail isn't included on her profile?

Erica, you're so knowledgeable- your brain is like a computer

William Kelke

It seems Cecily has at least one duplicate profile.

Hi cousin Suzan Martin , my Tree is only about 10% complete, but with that little bit I was lucky to find lots of truly wonderful relatives. (And only a few scary ones, lol.) I'd like to build it up a lot more, though, to satisfy my curiosity. I also have quite a lot of research, proving, and documentation to do first, though. And of course I'm just an amateur genealogist, but it's soooo fun!

Cecily Farrar

Cecily Farrar, Ancient Planter

I haven't really tested it, but it looks like I'm wrong about these being duplicates, because of the dates and so forth.

Private User Years ago I spent a ridiculous amount of time on Cecily (currently showing as my fourth great uncle's fourth great grandmother); I have a Farrar in Kentucky & she was being a “Geni says” direct ancestress. And I see that Wikipedia now is even more conservative than I was. Pretty sure Wiki in that era had her married to Montagues also. So I went mostly with a good article from the (prestigious) Reynolds Family Association (link has moved). They determined she likely wasn’t a sister of Christopher Reynolds, merchant of Virginia; but they fell in love with her like everyone else, and decided to keep her as a possible Reynolds. :):)

Private User Kelke is enticing as a related to Cecily family (geography) but not this one.

Thank you, Erica Howton . I see now that I somehow confused the two Cecily Farrars and spoke up too soon. The similarities are rather interesting, though.

I enjoy genealogy so much, partly because I really need something challenging to work on as a sort of hobby or pastime. And I especially like that it's so educational. I hope to spend more time on it in the near future.

Cecily Kelke
Our connection to the Barons of the Magna Carta. Her Father William was born
1519 she married John Farrer of London
In 1574. Her Decendents were Plantagenets. The War of the Roses.
My genealogy guru told me to follow her line back to find our Norman Saxon ancestors.
So Cecily Kelke was John Farrar’s wife and Mother of counselor William Farrar who crossed on the Neptune 1618. Lord De La Warr who was Governor of Jamestown convinced him to seek his fortune there. Lord De Le Warr (Mr West). Had been ill and died in the crossing.
Cecily Bailey Jordon was crossing over on the Neptune also. Her husband died. The preacher asked for her hand in marriage. It was unseemly timing as sh was in mourning. She secretly accepted but warned he was not to speak of it.
He blabbed and she reneged. It became the 1st breech of promise lawsuit in America. William Farrar was her lawyer and later her husband. The suit went on for more than a year. It was kicked back to England. William finally convinced the preacher to drop the lawsuit. She was now on her 2nd or 3rd husband. She was considered a beautiful woman.

Okay now I have a headache Lol.

Okay now I have a headache Lol.

Lots & lots of conflicting info & I guess it just keeps on coming !

I’m very fond of Sammy Jordan & Cecily - did you know they think they found his suit of armour & other household goods from an excavation at Beggar’s Bush / Jordan’s Journey?

But it looks like the solid descent is from her Farrar children, & he was definitely Councillor William.

This whole lot were “merchant - Adventurers”, going to Jamestown to make a fortune. IF they survived.

What is Cecily Reynolds maiden name? I am a direct descendant Samuel " Silas" Jordan.

We don’t know the maiden name for Cecily Reynolds. I will change it to “unknown.”
