This the parents of Christian Waddington, born Pettus. She is the granddaughter of Pocahontas and Kocoum the first husband of Pocahontas that was killed by settlers.

There is no proof for that claim.

From the profile “about”

Disputed Origins

Evidence needed to support as child of Colonel Thomas Pettus, of James City and Ka Okee "Jane" Pettus, of the Patawomeck

according to the following: http://www.patawomeckindians.org/PatawomeckTides2012.pdf

The Newtons of White Oak have long claimed a descent from Pocahontas, daughter of Chief Powhatan, and it was through Maj. William Newton’s wife, Elizabeth Kenyon, that this lineage flowed. Her mother, Elizabeth Waddington, was the daughter of Francis Waddington, Jr., and Margaret Thomasin. Francis bWaddington, Jr., was the son of Francis Waddington, Sr., and his wife, Christian (Pettus) Martin, the widow of John Martin. Christian’s mother was traditionally the Patawomeck Indian, Ka-Okee, daughter of Pocahontas by her first husband, Kocoum, the younger brother of Chief Japasaw.

What we do know is that she had a sister who was the mother of Frances Lampton

I am interested in this claim by the Newtons, about Elizabeth Kenyon and Elizabeth Waddington, as I am descended from both Elizabeth Kenyon and her sister Frances. (Frances' son Anthony Strother married Elizabeth's granddaughter, Elizabeth. So the marriage was between first cousins once-removed, which I find pretty common as I go back in my genealogical records!

If any of the families involved passed along the info that an ancestor was Patawomeck, that makes it a little more credible to me. My line from those ladies went Strother--->Franklin--->Gillespie, and--I loved my grandmother and great-grandmother--but they were not the kind of people who were going to pass along info like that. My Great-Granny Franklin would have been more likely to swallow it whole, and throw away the key.

It checks out, sort of, in that the fractional NA DNA that Anthony+Eliz union should theoretically pass along to me, is almost the exact quantity suggested by the GEDmatch calculators, but I'd like to think SOMEONE in the family passed it along as oral tradition.

Can every manager on this profile who is direct to this profiled person put their kit number on the end of the Geni name, by editing your name and attaching to your Geni Name the gedcom kit number of you and your aunts/uncles/ggs, please so that atDna can be done since we can get down to 2cM with Genesis? Thanks kindly.
