William Cecil - Father not Arthur, wife is unknown, and he only had 3 children

I am descended from this John Cecil whose son is Samuel Whitten Cecil. Is there any earlier information available about this branch of the family? Are they part of the famous Cecil family from England?. I am just beginning research. Any information would be so helpful.

Unfortunately, no earlier documented information has been found regarding William Cecil and his ancestors, but several of us are working on it. If you read his biography, you'll see a description of the YDNA results which documents that this family are not direct descendants of the famous Cecil family in England (Lord Burghley), but this famous family is related to William hundreds of years prior. Also in William's profile, you'll see some recommended reference works to help you with your research.

I began researching the Cecil family of Prince George's as part of my exploration to see if Susannah Cecil may have been known as Susannah Duvall and so the wife of Edward Mobberly (my 6th great grandparents). I'm still not 100% sure, so am not yet a known Cecil family descendant. You can see my theory about Susannah by clicking on her link from William's profile.
