Post any news articles etc that can help us identify “heroes of the COVID 19 pandemic” and build their trees.

Colleagues and others are mourning the coronavirus-related death earlier this week of Italian physician Roberto Stella, 67, leader of the medical association in Italy's northern Varese region, who continued to treat patients even after protective gear ran out.

Dr. Peter Hotez has a previously frozen vaccine that could effectively protect people, he's with Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. My doctor is also a research doctor at Baylor in Houston.

Dr. Roberto Stella is a true hero and was a modern-day saint giving his own life to care for patients. He knew the danger and yet continued to care for the ones in need.

Here is the tree for Chris Whitty
It could still use a bit of expansion though: http://www.whittyfamilytree.co.uk/getperson.php?personID=I656&t...

I've added Adam Silver for what he did in stopping the spread of COVID-19 by shutting down the NBA. As of this message, 10 NBAers have tested positive for COVID-19.

Google today is honoring Ignaz Semmelweis the pioneer of early antiseptic practices including hand washing - particularly chlorine hand washing. He has a very nice Wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignaz_Semmelweis

I could not find a profile on Geni when I did a search by name and am happy to make one.

Minister of Health (2019 - in office)
On December 3, 2019, the president-elect, Alberto Fernández, announced that Ginés González García would be his Minister of Health.12 On December 10 of that year, he assumed office.13

Her first measure, signed on December 12, 2019, was the update of the non-punishable abortion protocol that establishes a procedural guide for the legal interruption of pregnancy in cases stipulated by the Penal Code of the Nation since 1921.14

On March 3, 2020, the first case in Argentina of the coronavirus disease epidemic15 was confirmed, which started in December of the previous year in Wuhan, China.16 By March 6, there were already eight confirmed cases.17 March 7, the first coronavirus death in Argentina is confirmed, a 64-year-old man who had traveled to Paris.18 The following day three new cases were confirmed.19

“I did not believe that the coronavirus was going to arrive so fast, I did not believe that it was going to arrive in the summer, we were surprised. We also did everything that had to be done. We were all surprised. In this regard, all the measures we are taking have to do with evolution. We did not underestimate it, I thought it would come later, that is the truth. We accelerate flu vaccines so that the two diseases don't come together. "
On Friday, March 13, Ginés González García announced that classes would not be suspended for the time being as it would be a "counterproductive" measure.21 However, just a few days later, in view of the new WHO recommendations, the government declared the suspension of classes in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and the closing of the border.

Private User There are two profiles in Geni who could be Gines Mario Gonzalez Garcia.

Can you find more information about his family (parents, spouses, children ...) so we could confirm before asking the managers?

https://mynorthwest.com/1758762/coronavirus-washington-seattle-flu-...?

The state’s early detection of coronavirus began with Seattle Flu Study Director Dr. Helen Chu, who is credited with first identifying its presence in Washington.

“She’s a true American hero, [who] actually broke this epidemic identified in Washington state when no one else wanted her to test for the virus,” Harvard Chan School of Public Health epidemiologist Dr. Eric Ding told KIRO Radio’s Gee and Ursula Show. “Without her, this epidemic could have been 10 times worse.”
