Hi Keri. I just saw your message regarding Alice longe Knott. Yes she is my 10th great grandmother. I am sorry everyone gets so upset. I have searched and searched and maybe it is a waste of time. I have several Longe/Long DNA and they all have different parents for Alice Longe Knott ie.. Alice Longe Russell, Henry Longe 1611, John Longe 1550. If you can help in anyway I would be grateful. I have been looking 8 years and also had a geneologist help me with her resources. I don't want to do a tree and not have correct info that is why I was looking for evidence IF anyone knows and not guessing. That is all I am asking for.
If you can help that would be awesome. Maybe we are related then...

If your Alice had different parents and husband then by all means add her and them to the tree if they do not already exist. I have discovered that if it turns out they don't exist or are wrong they can be fixed. :)

I have no idea whom her parents are. A needle in the haystack. She was married to Barnard Knott. I have the Knott tree all the way down to my grandmother as she was a Knott. Even my DNA cousins don't know which one is correct so everyone just puts one they think. like I said before there are at least three or more as Alice Longe was common back then. Which Alice Knott are you related to and show?
I have already done several hundred pages on the Alice with Henry as her father but NO PROOF which is irritating. I also have read Cheryl Nicols books "Inheriting the Earth" regarding the Longe 500 year reign of England.
If you have any idea whom it is please let me know. It makes me mad I pay ancestry and they have access to records that I don't have and I keep paying. My great Uncle is one of the founding fathers of the Mormon religion who are tied into Ancestry.
So if Alice Longe is your 12th GGM, whom do you think are her parents? I wish Henry Longe since that is what I originally have.
Thanks, Linda

Hey Linda,
I have transferred the conversation over to a discussion so that maybe we can get an answer for you . This is the Alice that is my 12th ggm to answer your question. I believe this to be correct but I am posting our discussion for feedback and help. :)

Henry's Will of 1611 [2] mentions his sons Henry, Robert, William and Thomas; 5 daughters unnamed (but among them are 4 surnamed Allen, Lovibond, Martin, Chafyn); brother [in-law] Yarbery; and some grandchildren.
Referring to Henry Longe, III, of Whaddon

The Will is available but even just from that snippet, I don’t see that Alice Knott was known as his daughter.
Her parents are “not known” by medieval genealogists at this query 2 years ago:

Lancat is now working. These are the details of the will of Alice Knott. Ashton-under-Lyne is also near Manchester, so possibly this is the same person as in Tonge in 1629.

Glad that you were able to get access. I'm still not able to - perhaps you were connected to a different server.
Quite often, researchers seem to ignore inventories, even though these can provide really valuable information; so the OP should make sure that she's got that as well as the will.
It would need to be purchased, if you are interested.

This is the Tonge record the medievalists thought referred to the same Alice Knott:

Reference number QSB/1/63/21
1629 - TONGE -- Alice Knott, widow, and Marie and Jane Knott, spinsters, to keep the peace to Abraham and Margery Ogden and Sarah Bewsicke
That death location does not resonate with Barnard Knott of Suffolk. I would be skeptical it’s the same Alice Knott.
Linda Kathleen Thompson, (c) You uploaded a beautiful baptism record I cannot read parents on - https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000122736200832 ... do you recall ? Do you know the place and date to add to profile?
Is this the source information?

Also, do you see my point about the Lancashire widow in 1636 seeming unlikely? The Knott spinsters in 1629 would be that Alice’s sisters in law, I would think - and Lancashire is a long way from Suffolk.
Is Barnard Knott connected to the correct parents?
Asking because the father connected shows born in England but died in Maryland and the mother connected shows born in England but died in Virginia and yet Barnard is listed as born and died in England.
I haven't found much documentation on his connections. His Wiki page lists his father as James who was born and died in England and no mother listed:

Thanks in advance for any clarification.
