Yes, I look at book another time and think, you right about errors of numbering of Lesmoir Gordons in geni
Douglas Wimberley's book is online, Gordon of Lesmoir in page 93 http://archive.org/details/memorialsoffouro00wimb/page/92/mode/2up
Also see father of this George - James Gordon: James Gordon, 1st Laird of Lesmoir and "his brother" James Gordon, 1st Laird of Lesmoir, who is actually the same persons (with 1st and 2nd wife of same James Gordon)
So Gordon tree, as some other Scotish trees, is needed a big revision. But this is a hard and time-eating work... I began to edit and add Gordons (first, of Manar branch, with using BP and some books), but so many other work to do, so I don't know, when I'll continue, if I will.
I think the first thing to clean up is the overview for James Gordon, 1st Laird of Lesmoir - the James Gordon who was born c1460/70, married Ann/Margaret Stewart and whose parents were George Gordon and Isabel Innes. The correct Peerage reference should be http://www.thepeerage.com/p41320.htm#i413196
Are you all fine with me updating this obvious error?
When I have a moment I want to do a comparison with all of the current online resources including the House of Gordon and all the other sources referred to here https://www.patrickspeople.scot/our%20family/2326.htm
The peerage site has some errors and uncompleted data (source of info about Gg, 1st Lesmoir is email by one user to another!). Ancestry of GG, 1st of lesmoir s different on peerage site (one Innes wife of GG ancestors in row) and patrickspeople site (two Innes wives in row). So to use preferably the writen sources is probably the best thing to do
Hi there I have updated the overview James Gordon, 1st Laird of Lesmoir. I think we should use the House of Gordon as our starting point. It contains a wealth of info about the Gordons of Lesmoir. It appears Geni have a double entry for James (as his brother). I will contact the managers of the other entry to ask for permission to merge.
Jane Johnson - I stumbled into this from another request and agree with you - with a caveat about Margaret Ogilvy of Findlater, lady of Gartlie
See the argument presented at https://www.clanmacfarlanegenealogy.info/genealogy/TNGWebsite/getpe... suggesting she was misplaced in the Gordon book as the wrong generation of Ogilvys.
Please check this site also, with lots of citations.
This Margaret is elusive.
